Penryn in Q4, Info on "Nehalem" & AMD's AM3

Pre-C2D we had vastly varying reports of its abilities, so i'm not going to call it untill all cards are on the table. Atm C2D rocks, sure, i HAVE a E6400, but there is no guarantee that the crown cant pass back across.

Seeing as Phenom hits before Penryn..... anyone likely to upgrade their mobo for either will have the full facts of both if they insist on waiting untill December.

I'm not talking about upgrades NOW, however anyone sensible who already HAS a decent C2D system without Penryn capability (all those P5Ws, DS3s, ects) and will want to upgrade their CPU within the next 6-8 months will NEED a new mobo AND CPU, and future upgradeability is a logical thing to consider.

woa; far to many sound-alike codewords there :s

Anyone have a quick summary of the up-coming chips/features from both sides handy? :p

Right, my heads just stopped spinning but i've got a question to ask, well a couple.

I'm wanting to upgrade around the time of the Intel price cut. I've heard its basically cutting the price in half, is that still on?

Also i'm on 939 right now, is it worth me swapping over to Intel, and if i do should i just buy a cheap mobo in the meantime as a new socket is coming out early next year?

I got humped with my 939 as i bought it and 3 months later the CD2 lot came out, so i'd like it if someone could be kind enough to explain those points to me.

Thanks.
