On my old home PC i ran the dxdiag command to look at some of the specs, and it says under processor:

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)

Does the 2 CPUs bit mean its dual core?
A stupid question but I didn't think pentium 4s were dual core.

your best bet would be to download cpu-z google it, it will tell you, it could be a dualcore im sure they released 2.8ghz - 3.2ghz dual cores.

yeah hyperthreading saw it as 2 logical cores iirc which it clearly wasn't but it was suprisingly effective for multitasking.

wasn't pentium D out for literally 3-4months then C2D was released?
My high-end P4 system was way faster than a BTX dell pentium D (not fairest of comparisons I know) but basicallyl the chips were not so great...

There were actually two generations of Pentium D, the 800 series on 90nm process, and the 900 series on 65nm. The 800's were pretty hot, but the 900's werent to bad at all.

But of course they were still netburst processors so poor performance compared to a C2D.
