Have an old Pentium 4 ‘Packard Bell’ that I am trying to over clock & need help, as not upgrading just yet.

The motherboard is a (Gigabyte – GA-8TRC410MNF-RH), & the bios are (Phoenix – AwardBios).

CPU is at 3.06 GHz & was planning on changing it to 3.62 GHz, but can’t find where to change the setting in the bios.

Could it be that this mobo does not allow any over clocking?

Any help would be grate.

unfortunately that board won't let you overclock. You would need to get a new motherboard to OC that chip, there's really no point in doing this as the cost would far outweigh the benefit.

you could try and find the clock gen IC, and then use software (i.e setfsb) if its supported.
Thats about your only option without changing the board unless someone has made a hacked BIOS for it (doubtful tbh)

Hi,

What is ‘clock gen IC’,

Where is best to download ‘setfsb’, & I will try it.

‘very new to all this over clocking stuff’.

Thanks.

There is so much for you to learn, the best place to start is use google and read.
If you don't want to do that, then buy a new mainboard.

Clock gen IC is usually found on the CPU.

Don’t think I will bother removing heat sink/fan as it’s a lot of hassle, will see if setfsb will work or not.

If that does not work then I will leave it as it is.
