Will a pentium dual core E2180 2ghz work in an XFX 680I LT motherboard with no bios flash or anything needed?

Thanks

Unlike other motherboard manufacturers website it's indeed kind of hard to find the exact answer on xfx site, I tried to look it up.

Supported CPUs:
Intel Core 2 Extreme (dual and quad core), Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, Celeron D, Pentium 4, Pentium 4, Pentium D 9XX, Pentium D 8XX

It will probably pick it up but I'm not 100% sure. You can try and mail xfx.

um I might be being dumb, but why wouldn't it? Its a core 2 duo with 65nm architecture like the 680i's primarily support. I can't see why it wouldn't

Well you are right it is, but some motherboards need a bios update before a cpu is recognised that is newer then the board. Just the way it is sometimes.

Can be as little as an unrecognised CPUID for a motherboard to refuse to boot with a certain chip. When the e2xxx was released many boards didn’t read the correct L2 cache, and had other little bugs that were ironed out with an updated bios.
