However i did think there was going to be 3 episodes

They changed a while ago to make it just two episodes.

Downloading the demo now, but don't think I'll play it until tomorrow.

Look at what you have in your inventory (if you picked everything up) and things in the room which you can use.

Use the coin in the vice then use the flattened coin to unscrew the vent cover screws.

Would like to say cheers to Neil79 for introducing me to this series.

Am playing Penumbra: Overture - the predecessor and am loving it. It's really a must before playing Black Plague.

I wouldnt have known anything about it if not for this forum.

Nice find Neil. Just when I was beginning to think you had no taste :p.

I like that savegames are compatible with the full version. I don't know if I could stomach that terrifying bum-clenching moment again! (You know the one)

The full retail version is priced at £24.99 far too much for a game like this. I am at work so I cannot see what the download price is like. I have checked US Amazon and its $19.99 - less than half price. I am surprised why gamers here in the UK do not illegally download more games. Rip-off Britain here we come. I will be giving this one a miss for awhile until I can pick it used for a tenner (what it is actually worth).

Whilst I think we could all make the argument that some games are not worth their price tag I must ask: Why in particular do you feel this is not worth equivalent monies to other less original and shorter games?

I will admit that I think £24.99 is steep but I'd probably pay £17.99 for it at least. certainly worth more than £10.00. I enjoyed overture more than most games I have played in recent months.

cheers,

I'm sure it was a tenner I got overture for.

Hopefully the price will be put to £10to £15 for this in a few days / weeks.

I do like slow placed adventure games so this just up my street. The gameplay elements are very good and the game stands out, but the production values are not in the same league as other similar priced games that I tend to buy. The game feels like it has been made by gifted amateurs so therefore I question the pricing and why should it cost 2.5 times more than in the US. Anyway the download version costs £15.00 which I am prepared to pay if I enjoy the remainder of episode 1 (which I started last night). It still costs 50% more than the US version. I just do not like been ripped off again and again.

hmm I suppose an element of supporting smaller dev studios comes into my reasoning. On the whole I would sincerely rather pay at least £15 for a title such as this all things considered as I genuinely got a nice suprise when I started playing overture - a feeling that has been amiss since, perhaps, the late 90's- early 00's. £15 would still be a significant price difference to games with higher production values.

I accept your general points though and the rip-off culture we live in is becoming a joke.

cheers,

I do recall reading somewhere that the game is made by 2 people which, if correct, I find staggering. I can only imagine what they could accomplish with more money and resources. I to would like them to succeed because innovative adventure puzzle games are a rare breed other than the 2d point and click games, that due to no fault of their own are stuck in the 90's.

I quite liked it, though graphics do seem like they were ripped straight from Silent Hill 2/3 its not a bad thing at all in my books. :D The corridor section had me screaming like a girl, which can only be a good thing!

It did feel a bit amateurish in certain parts, but it's not hugely noticeable once you stop nitpicking and start playing.
