People are moaning at me for being a noob by using a tracer dart...

iv been useing it all the time just to tag every vehicle i see and snipers, i also have the perk what gives more ammo for RPGS so i can spend all day just tagging and blowing up tanks.

do you think the tracer dart is a noob weapon?

No - it's very handy. Ignore them :)

I hate people bitching in games  It has no affect and just clogs the screen up with text.

yeah i agree....i prefer useing it than a pistol. I get more points with it :D

I wouldnt be surprised later in the future servers will ban that gun :(

Side note: Not had a huge amount of success with it personally - I only found out the parachute button yesterday :p

That's the kind of thing that should be outlawed - like banning the grenade launcher on the COD games. I'd happen to join a server and be quite handy with the GL and it so happens to be banned on that server. Oh the fun :D

If they do ban it - they'll be servers I wont be joining.:)

How does the tracer dart work? I shoot a tank with it then switch to my rocket launcher - should it automatically hit the tank? Do i need to lock onto the tracer dart or something?

Doesn't matter what you use to kill people in online games, if your good with it, then you get acused of being a noob.

I've been acused of being an RPD noob in MW2.

Even the so called noob tube does require a certain amount of skill.

Ignore all the whiners and use what ever you like, it's part of the game and is available to everyone else to use.

Pretty much, yeah, but only if the weapon has a lock-on facility.

I use the dart all the time too - ever tried to hit a chopper with it? Quite tough! :D

the rpg or any other launcher wont automatically attack the tank..all the tracer does is basicly light up the tank so everyone can see it on there radar. Its like the Q button but it lasts until the tank/vehicle dies :P

what i do is , i tracer a vehicle, follow it around via my radar so it doesnt see me, and shoot the rear of it 4 times to get the kill :P or i tracer the vehicle, look at what way it moves, and i guess where to lay mines :)

if the tracer dart was like a homeing becon...well thats a different story...

Can other RPG's lock onto the same tracer dart? My friend swore he saw a tracer dart hit a helicopter, then about 6 RPG's launch upward at it like some scene from a nuclear disaster movie.

iv never hit a chopper yet....if your not including me sneaking up to there bases and tagging them before they lift off :)

Here is my guide thing I did on my clan website for the tracer dart. I only found out how to use it the other night, it's great fun.

Using the tracer dart:

This only works with certain rocket launchers, I am not sure exactly which ones currently accept definetely the Carl Gustav engineers 2nd launcher

1) Take ya tracer dart pistol and fire it at your intended target. This can be a vehicle, fixed emplacement, building, person, whatever
2) If you get a successful hit you will get 30 'tracer dart planted' points
3) Whip out your rocket launcher of choice and go to the 'zoomed in' target reticule mode of the weapon ( i don't think you can lock to tracer darts with 'hip fire' mode)
4) You will see a 'broken' square on the darted target. Keep aiming at this until the square goes solid and you get a distance to target indicator by the solid square (eg: 58m). (I also don't know if you have to have line of site to lock on to the tracer dart target 'square')
5) Once the lock on is complete fire off your rocket. You can fire from anywhere, to anywhere and the rocket should still hit the target. Eg: once locked on, bugger off to the other side of the map, fire straight up in the air and your rocket will go really high then fly straight down on to the top of the target. If stuff eg buildings get in the way of the rocket, it will hit these first.

Thats pretty much it

On a side note I believe the 3rd engineer kit rocket launcher unlock locks on to heat sources rather than tracer darts. It actually tells you in the in-game weapons info if a launcher will work with tracer dart.

Screw em, I mean it's use the tracer dart or guided missle, both do the same thing, although one is fire and forget.

The people that moan about it are probably people that spam gustavs/grenade tubes or like to rape maps using the veichles.

Its part of the game, its no more OP than some of the other parts of this game, and it does take a fair bit of skill to use it (try tagging a moving chopper with it).

Ignore them, if they are opposition moaning, then they are probably being butt hurt when you pop open their tanks. If they are on your team moaning, then tell them to STFU as your probably contributing more to the cause than what they are.
