People calling each other "duck"

Its one of my favourite Northernisms

Eh up! Duck/Chuck/Pet.

Those simple folk wearing their flat caps in their working mens clubs, bless them.

Shop cashiers used to call me Pet!

I don't think I look like a cat....or something!

It's funny how we hate our own regional sayings, yet when we go to Spain or Italy on holiday it feels all special and exotic.

People in Somerset call each other 'male chicken, 4 letters'. At least that's what they told me.

Me duck is used around here and jitty and cob. I like calling old biddy's me duck. :o

Surely that word isn't banned? Also, I have heard a few people use it up north as well. My aunty used to use it all the time, as well as duck lol.

When I moved to the midlands around 10 years ago I noticed people called each other "duck":

Hello duck
You all'right duck

How far does this phenomenon spread? It appears to be around the Nottingham, Derby, Chesterfield region. Wondered if people had heard it from further afield

Anyone have any of their own "localisms"?

p.s. It's a slow Tuesday...

A woman at my work who is from Derby does this. Most annoying.
