my name is Ross, but I get called Scott by so many different people, this has happened all through my life, right from infant school 'til now
I can't see any relation between the 2 names, and I don't think I look like a Scott!

anyone else have this ?
different people calling you the same name, but the wrong one!

my next door neighbour called me Steve, i say called because they don't speak to me any more after I told the wife to "**** off and call the RSPCA then".

Sounds harsh, but I had put up with months of complaints about letting my cat out as he didn't have any cover out the back and I finally snapped at her!

I get called 'Alec' instead of 'Alex' a lot. But that's understandable. Doesn't particularly bother me but I do correct people.

This is largely the reason I no longer use my first name, partly because it's completely retarded and made my school life a misery and partly because people never get it right, even though it is said exactly as it's written, people always over pronounce it like they think it's foreign, or they just can't understand what I'm saying and mispronounce it.

I got sick of people asking "Oh that's unusual where's that from then?" that I use my second name instead, at some point I'll get around to doing it legally so I can change my ID etc.

Your name along the lines of Khrystyna?

Not quite the same, but here goes...

People are forever asking me if I want to be called Peter or Pete. I don't care, and I find the question quite baffling. Call me what you like. I'll certainly call you whatever I like. I call Jen at work Jeffiner, and Caroline gets called Cazabelle, and so on... My children get called everything under the sun, and the cat as well.

It's boring calling people by their real names.

What is your name? :)

Exactly the same for me. :(

I always get called Nick - whether there's a Nick in the relevant group (class, work environment etc) or not, if anyone ever calls me by the wrong name, it's always Nick.

Edit: My mother's name is Eithne (Eth-nuh). You can imagine how many people get that wrong. My dad and his workmates just call her Ed.

i get all the above but there's seems to be some hidden link between ross and scott
i mean ross is maybe the easiest name there is ?? lol
it's also people i've known for ages who call me scott, they'll say "Hi Scott...ooh I mean Ross" :p

it doesn't bother me but I just find it wierd, seeing as there's no obvious link between the 2 names!

I'm technically Johnathan but go as Jonny. How strange they use an H in my full name but I decide not to :S....anyway I always end up as John which, when I work with two other Johns, can get rather annoying!

Never, EVER, had that happen ... Alec is far less common so it's unusual for people to think you are called that
