What speed do you run your pump at? Is there a point where it becomes too loud?

I have a CPU/GPU and two rads. Does the speed of the pump have a big effect on temp?

Cheers

Ive got our two test pumps on rubber dampers and they are still silent'ish on level 5. They certainly are more quiet then my DDC's (i have 6 of them) even on 6.5V

4 or 5, certainly can't hear it above any case/PSU fans anyhow. Have my D5 sat on a 1/4" thick rubber mat, though I'm fairly certain it does little to reduce the noise.

Even when I'm bleeding the loop, only the pump and PSU running I can only hear the PSU :)

I have it on 3! Doesn't make much of a deference in temps if I put it on 5.
I have it "floating" - connected to the RES(hanging by tubing)

I have mine set to 2 because 1 doesn't flow enough to keep the temps as low as I like, its still virtually silent though (its the only thing in my case producing any noise).

I have mine on 1 - only use high flow blocks so no need for more (xspc edge / silverprop cyclone fusion HL)
A pump top makes a real differance to the noise but only really noticeable in a very quite or silent passive system.

In a restrictive loop or using a block(s) that like a powerfull pump 5 maybe useful (but a ddc is better)
3 is usually optermal for most people with a few fans in the case to mask the quiet dentist drill whine
With a pump top 4 is 'louder' that 5 (but that might just be my old ears not hearing that frequence any more)

This is how I rank pumps in terms of noise in a quiet system.
(top tier are quiet - middle acceptable if you have fans - bottom not acceptable in a quiet system)

D5 setting 1 (EK X-top rev2) – 0.69GPM
D5 setting 2 (EK X-top rev2) - 1.00GPM
D5 setting 1 – 0.62 GPM
D5 setting 3 (EK X-top rev2) - 1.35GPM
D5 setting 2 – 0.92 GPM
DB-1 (Ek 2.2) – 1.09 GPM
-------
Ddc stock – whoosh like but quiet – 1.37 GPM
D5 setting 5 (EK X-top rev2) - 1.99GPM
D5 setting 3 – 1.26GPM
Ddc xspc top - 1.87GPM
Ddc xspc res top - 1.86GPM
D5 setting 4 (EK X-top rev2) - 1.72GPM
DDC pro (Alphacool res top) – 1.53GPM
-------
D5 setting 4 – 1.63GPM
CPX-pro (Ek 4.0) - 1.85GPM (untested based on others opinion)
D5 setting 5 – 1.89GPM

It's possibly worth bearing in mind that many D5's are actually 24V pumps, so even at position 5, they are still running at half-speed in most scenarios.

I have the XSPC D5 and res combo. When fitted the vibrations resonated through my HAFX case at any setting over 1, pretty intolerable. So not it sits onto of my PSU on a sponge, cant notice it unless its over 3, and even then very quiet.

my pot is just spinning but i can turn it to set the speed if i press on a bit harder, so i have it on about 3 from what i can feel.

& there is no bubbling or gurgling but is that the right way to set pump speeds up ?.

cheers
