Peoples Opinion On Windows Gaming Mode!!

I tried using it, but it kept on disabling my wireless controller, so I gave up. This was a few months ago though, so it might have been fixed now.

They are altering it again in the Fall Creator's Update so it can be switched on/off on a per game basis rather than being system wide.

most people switch it off with gaming systems as it causes issues.also there is better produts you can use some that are free.so no real point yet.

I have used it because i felt the idea of it stopping background and usage was something which was a good idea. I cant say ive really found any issues with it.

Just wondered whether i was getting any actual extra performance from using it or whether i was wasting my time :).

I thought this was already the case when using the Xbox Dashboard you could press the windows g and select wether it was on or off.

Yes, it appears you can but it's under the settings dialog box. They're moving it out to the main bar with its own button. :p

I don't even know what it is, but all the Xbox crap and the 40 extra system processes running in the background causing an FPS drop of 100+ made me get rid of the Creators update and then permanently disable the Windows Update service entirely. Awful.

I don't have anything running in the background anyway*, I don't use my PC for anything other than gaming so I don't really have anything installed and a lot of things that are installed are disabled at start us so I can start them when I want to - I am happy for it to take a bit longer! I also have an 4c/8t CPU so it wouldn't benefit me as much.

*Within reason - drivers and CCC is pretty much it.

It lowers framerates for a lot of games instead of helping so I just turn it off.

I turn off as many windows features as possible, windows dvr, windows game bar, windows hdr (games like RE7's own implemention still works), night light, etc. They're all bloated and inefficient and just slow everything down.

I wanted to try it out but pressing win + g on my Pc does absolutely nothing. I guess I've disabled something somewhere and I cba to figure it out :D

Had it on since released, never disabled it. But i have disabled the gamebar.

Settings --> Gaming --> Game Mode

I have no idea if it's enabled or not, never paid any attention to it so either it's off or it's on but does bugger all anyway.

I'll take a look later and find out lol

I keep activating it on games out of habit. I haven't any clue if it's actually doing anything useful, I've never really noticed but my frame rate is locked at 60 on all games anyway.

I can check to see if it helps on CoH which I started last night. When the camera is freely rotated, the FPS takes a hit. Maybe this will help with that, I'll check later.
