Perfect resolution for 23"

bear in mind, any resolution other than the native res of 2048x1152 will look blurry and, frankly, rubbish.
I totally agree. It doesn't make any sense to buy a 23" monitor with that resolution and not use it's native resolution for perfect picture quality. Anything less seems silly unless rubbish picture quality at non-native resolutions is considered acceptable versus the smallness of the pixels at it's native resolution.

The topic title is perfect resolution for 23" but I suspect it should be what is the perfect resolution for a 2048x1152 panel to make text etc bigger but not too big and the answer is there aren't any non-native resolutions to use except when (as said above) rubbish picture quality is acceptable unless of course 1024x576 can be considered an option.

I suspect the OP is looking for perfection out of a situation which cannot provide it, so seriously, consider getting rid of the monitor and buy something which better suits your needs. :)

ok, I've reinstalled Win7 from beta to rc and its improved, perhaps there was bug, perhaps not. I'm now using 2048x1152 with 130% zoom and am able to resize websites to appropiate level and it now looks fine. I found 1920x1080 resolution blurry for some reason, but 2048x1152 has crystal clear windows graphics and font, just some images are slightly blurred, maybe because they're enlarged beyond their intended design.

we have 24" at work and my manager cant handle 1920x1200 he thinks its to small i increased the DPI and he loves it now. as he can read it.

i would do that if i was you

thinking about buying a 23 dell but all this talk of small text is off putting, im still on my 7 year old 15" lcd 1024x764 i love it to bits but id like a bigger monitor tbh

im ready to buy im just a bit worried about the talk of the text etc, is it difficult to mess about with dpi etc in xp, ive never done it?

no, it's easy-peasy. but if you're worried about the text being too small, then i'd reccomend you get a 22" monitor (1680x1050) or a 24" monitor (1920x1200) instead, as they have much more reasonable pixel-per-inch values :)

OK, I'm all set, loving new monitor, here some things:

Set resolution to native.
Moved Win7 Taskbar to side to suit widescreen and high resolution.
Windows zoom 135%
Use enlarge in web browsers for individual webpages
