Personalised number plates and snobbery?

But it isn't a little gem... it's no different to my plate or anybody else's plate. You still made out it was worth a fortune when it really isn't!

its worth £1500 to someone with the initials WTD, its worth even more to a gangster or a drug dealer - this is just my opinion but im pretty sure I could easily get at least 5-10 times what i paid for it, if I was to advertise it properly on ebay, etc

Why dont you then.

Regardless of whether the whole 187 thing etc is any good, its still an xxx yyy plate. These are always worth a fair bit more than plates like ours, he'll probably at the least get his money back if it were to be sold.

exactly the plate isnt a normal plate. it is a dateless plate which command a higher premium than normal plates and can be put on any car regardless of its age whereas some of you may be limited to a certain age of car due to your plate

Ive got a private plate, had it for a couple of years now. Its X1 TDM. Cost about £800 at the time. Yes, shamefully I'll admit I had a dodgy font which made it look like tom when I first had it.

I ended up gettin some made with the standard font and now it reads X1 TDM. I really like it now, it looks really clean, I think the X1 combination works really well and Im now glad that not everyone knows my first name :)

Sure it cost £800 but I will always have it on every car I buy for the forseeable future so I don't regret buying it.

like i said to the right person it could be worth "up to" 100 times what i paid for it

meaning somebody could offer anything between £1,500 and £150,000, at no point did i say it was worth £150,000 jus that someone could be willing to pay up to that much for it

So, just to confirm. If in the event of an L.A ganster venturing to the UK while on the run from the law for murder, he will buy an Escalade and fork out "up to" 150k for the plate WTD 187 so that another US criminal dodging their justice system on holiday here will see it and think to himself "Daaawwwggggg, I aint's dissin that brother, he'll cap my ass!"

Have I got that right? Has Puff Didley been in touch yet?

RE: "5" plate:

1. '5' - £3.5 million

No, that's not a typo. Three and a half million pounds. At the minimum wage, it would take 350 years to earn that amount of money. The plate was sold in Dubai, but we couldn't possibly omit it from this list.

The plate was bought by Talal Al Khoury who said the plate had absolutely no significance to him whatsoever.

Lol, he bought it because he could.

Wish i could do that :(

i see a orange focus st up north hill just by the uni in plymouth with a numberplate
"HI GIRLS" (H161 RLS i guess, will have to have another look if its there tomorrow)

Words spelled with numbers look retarded in all walks of life - it doesn't come good just because it's on a number plate.

least your smarter than fox

Actually I deliberately refrained from mentioning exactly what your plate was out of respect for your wishes, as you'd gone through and edited it out of all your posts as far back as April 2008.

Given that all this has got me is yet more stupid comments from you I'll not bother to extend you the same courtesy in future.

Olly was expressing suprise at your opinion that your plate means 'Wanted for Murder', not making the link himself, so who is the smart one?

Don't argue with fools. They'll just bring you down to their level and beat you with experience :D

I got a 250 quid one for x-mas from my parents which has my birthday and initials. I think it just smartens the look of the car with less numbers and letters. Im happy with mine, I know many view them on here in a negative way but tbh it wasnt expensive and im quite happy with it.
