Personalised Number Plates

Had mine donkey's years, and it's my name. I like it, people like it. Everybody wins.

They only cost $40 here. used to see lots of Stig related ones. The other English guy at work has Crikey on his. You can have anything as long as its not rude or inappropriate, or its not taken. And as long as its no more than 7 letters.

I thought the increase was to do with folk not wanting to disclose how old their car was by hiding it with a plate, now that we're all so obsessed by not having last years car, darling.

This.

Isn't it so you can have a 5 year old BMW/Merc/other premium vehicle and pretend it’s new to most, other than BMW/Merc/other premium vehicle aficionados...:p

Never been my thing but I have one on my current car as it was bought for me. Just my initials preceded by the amount of cylinders I’ve got....in my pants.

I have one and don't mind them at all, what I don't get is people who spend money on a plate then have to fanny around with dodgy spacing to try getting it to spell something.

I appreciate the ones that aren't trying too hard, but if you have to space it badly or modify the letters with screws or black tape to make it look like something it's not, then I'm out.

I would like to get hold of AND1T, and my brother once saw R1CHT, which is even better.

For my Audi I'd like S4 ALT, or even S4 MRT since many people at work call me MrT

I've noticed a lot of park & ride establishments (certainly those in Oxford) use ANPR to pay for parking, usually asking for the last three letters/numbers. How do these work with some of the dodgy spacing used on private plates?

I had a private plate off my parents for Christmas. It's my first two initials and my surname.

The 6 digit alternative would be my preference (no middle initial) but I passed on that years ago and now it's gone :(

DJ10REY = DJ Lorey

Haven't put it on my car yet as I have a crap car, but if/when I get a nice one, I think it'll be nice.

At a glance I would’ve guess you have a crush on Daisy Ridley.

Not much to add other than I'm waiting on my perfect plate, which will be released in 2030 :( Fortunately, all the letters in my surname can comfortably be substituted for numbers. (B, O, T, A, and S; Yes, i put them in that order intentionally ;) )

The previous layout version was on a Suzuki Jimny years ago :( Anywho, this is why my current car is lasting til 2030 then I'll have to buy a brand new car for the plate :)

It's each to their own really. I looked at one last year which is exactly my surname but in 2014 format (which means something to me) and it was £1300 so way too much. Today I've noticed it's £700, which is rather tempting!
