Personalised Plates/Spacing

I've purchased a private plate number from the DVLA, my new log book came today and I will get the plates made and installed tomorrow.

Apart from my insurer, is there anyone else I should notify? Council for parking permit, tax?

Does anything change at my next MOT?

Notify the wife and everyone on Facebook :-D

Just your insurer I would have thought. When getting a MOT it will be on the data base anyway. If you have a parking permit that has your old reg visible I would get that sorted or they will think it's a fake or you just borrowed it off someone, end up with fines.

Thanks for this.

Another question, about spacing, if I get a plate that I bought as 'AB12 CDE' could I have plate printed as 'AB12CDE'?

Would I get any points or fine?

That's illegal, whether you get stopped or not is another matter. They're in different groups, they have to be shown as groups with the legal spacing. Changing anything about the groups is illegal.

A legit company will not print this as it's illegal and plate printer must put their name and licence number (normally in tiny letters) on the plate.

Also if the police ANR can't read the plate expect to get pulled eventually.

If you change spacing you are pretty much gambling for police attention. I've seen people get away for years and some months before they get stopped and fined.

It looks a bit dumb too. If you have to adjust the plate layout for it to make sense, it probably wasn't worth the money to begin with.

Got it made and informed my insurer, actually looks best as it is, didn't mess with spacing even though the shop did offer to print.

Anyone live in London and changed there registration plate, how do you go about changing it for the parking permit? Can it be done online?

Depends on your borough, best to call and ask or check their website
