All,

I currently have:

A-64 S745 3700+ (Clawhammer)
2GB DDR400
X800Pro

Persuade me to get the 1950Pro for my AGP system. Is it really worth the £185 or however much it is? It looks like it'd be a very healthy upgrade, and to be honest my machine's starting to struggle with graphically intensive games!

Hi, if you cant run your games the way you want them too then yes it will be a nice upgrade, the 1950pro will run any game at high setting no problem

I would say that no it isn't worth it. It may be starting to struggle now but it should still be pretty good for 90% of games on medium to high settings. Next year though games will be coming out that not only stretch your computer graphics wise but also cpu-wise. It would be better to save your money for a more complete system overhaul early to mid next year.

If your not looking to upgrade from AGP yet... then go for it. Should see good performance seeing as it seems like a good card.

but like he said his card is starting to struggle with the games he plays, it will be a very nice boost in performance if he gets the 1950pro, its the same performance as a 7900gt better in some games.

Go for it IF, you are unable to A) Get a more powerful system a bit later on, which may be wise with upcoming games, or B) Cant get a socket 754 PCI-E mobo, Im not sure if any were made, but if they were, I suspect asrock for one may have done one.
If you do get the extra card though, it IS a nippy bugger.

Thing is, I don't like having to play games on low-medium settings. It's the whole reason I sold my old 2405FPW and went to a 32" HD TV - the lower resolution meant I could still have settings up higher!

Medium to high is becoming rare-er and rare-er for this card; I can't remember the last time I had anti-aliasing on yet still having a good frame rate!
