played pes09 round my mates the other day.

my christ it's bad compared to the old pro evo days. whatever they did to it for the 2008 version killed the series in my opinion.

ea managed to make a decent game of 08, and actually upped the stakes with 09. i feel that 09 is much more of a decent simulation of football compared to it's arcadey pro evo counterpart.

yes, the licences and stuff do make a difference. it's aesthetically pleasing to look at real-named players in proper kits than pro evo's "london fc" or whatever.

pro evo is by no means a TERRIBLE game. it's just not as good as fifa this year, or last year for that matter.

i used to be a pro evo fan boy, now i've just moved to a game that actually offers me a fun, realistic game of football.
 
I hate football but from my point of view I still much prefer the demo of pes 09 to fifa this year. I've never liked fifa. I do agree though that old pes was way more classic.
 
I can see both sides but actually really agree with the time factor associated with fifa - when the 09 games came out I was completely unbiased and played both demos from the PSN before choosing, and i went with PES.

I thought that although the gameplay itself was better (at the time), the rest of the game surrounding the actual footy like the way the master league was set up, the menu systems, the licencing, etc etc was just unpolished - and don't forget this is not some mickey mouse backstreet company making this its bleedin' Konami!

I then remember seeing Fifa 09 for 17.99 somewhere and thought i'd give it a go, and after maybe 10 matches when you start getting used to it, I genuinely found it to be the better game. I think most people find this, that you have to get into it properly to enjoy it you can't just pick it up like PES...

One of the things that took the biscuit for me with PES is when I started a Master League, regardless of the lack of licencing the british teams were scattered all round europe and it needed manually sorting :rolleyes: - and I had to put a foreign team in the premiership to "fill a gap" while i moved up the ranks - now come on!

So yeah, won't be going back to PES until they get a grip - its not just the gameplay that matters its the whole experience...
 
Needs an overhaul imo. Last decent version of PES was 6 and it's gone downhill rapidly since then. Never been a fan of Fifa because it's always struck me as a game that's more concerned with style over substance but PES doesn't have any style or substance at the moment.

Edit: LOL at RTM'ing a post for being called deluded. That's more deluded than the post they've reported :D
 
I played the demo's of Pro Evo for the 360 but found them pretty awful. I bought Fifa 08 because i just wanted a football game to play and i found it better than pro evo.

Fifa 09 made a huge improvement (in my eyes) and thats why i bought it, sure it winds me up something chronic every now and then but to me it plays football better.

Im certainly interested to see what they do.

Exactly, he is making it out like we have never played Pro Evo before and those who buy FIFA are doing it for the license? What a load of rubbish. Before this FIFA the last one I had played was FIFA 98 and I had been playing Pro Evo (or ISS) ever since. I had heard a lot about FIFA 08 and got the demo for the PC but that uses the PS2 engine and thought it was rubbish. However my mate who was also a strictly Pro Evo only man played it at his mates and told me straight away that we needed to get the XBOX version. I had been toying with the idea of getting an XBOX so this game decided it for me as I needed a football game that I really enjoyed to play on and think this game is terrific.

One thing I would say is it isn't as easy as Pro evo to get the hang of, you need to put in lots of practise to get the hang of it. I found it way too hard at first but once you practise more you really start enjoying it. Like it has been stated online play is on the whole pretty good and far better than Pro Evo.
 
The point i was making is that I have played Fifa 09 and that it is ****. PES isn't perfect but it's better.
All you girls can cry all you like.

Look, its your opinion, other people disagree, liking one game more than the other does not make you a moron, nor a football fan. End of
