PES6 or FIFA2007?

I was hooked on the flawed PES5 with the poor tackling (always fouled), offsides and the removal of all pace advantages at high star levels. However, 6 seems really slow. Am i being too harsh or will 6 win me over?

Also, i cannot find any decent kit patches for PES6

Is Fifa any better?

I prefer PES6 over PES5 myself, you can actually run next to the player without him falling over. Oh and I definitely prefer PES to FIFA 2007 (only tried a demo, but still it doesn't feel as good).

In terms of the single player game i thought PES5 much better than PES6. In spite of the slightly OTT fouls in PES5, at least it required some skill in defending - you had to actually use positioning and time your tackle. Now in PES6 it's gone back to what PES4 was like, just hold the square button all the time and let one of your other players do all the work for you.

Combine the lack of a defensive challenge with the fact that they seem to have completely retarded your team mates so they just stand there looking at you in advanced positions rather than attack the gaping holes you've created and it makes for a pretty poor game imo.

Still, it's better than FIFA. Though that has improved significantly this year. I really wish they (EA) would get their act together at some point, as without any serious competition in the gameplay stakes Konami have become incredibly lazy in their approach to each 'update' in the PES series....

Im actually finding it harder to tackle in ps2 pes 6 than xbox pes5... players dont seem to tackle as effectively and so sometimes the player with the ball just walks past my player... Am also finding it harder to shoot but i guess it takes getting used to...

Definately agree that players are more stupid when it comes to making runs, I guess this is because in 5 passing across the box to the other man and shootng resulted in many many goals but now they dont always bother to make a move unless you one-two etc...

Also sometimes the defenders make odd decisions to run away from the player with the ball, leave gaping holes in the defence :( Leaving my keeper to spill some shots directly to the opposition.

I agree these updates of pes have been more gameplay tweaks than much else so we're playing almost the same game most years... luckily its a great game to start with. The last fifa game I played was on xbox and the presentation was much better but the plaers looked awful in a weird way, the gameplay was very pes like in its control method but I didnt stick with it for long. From what I hear people tell me pes is still the best. Just hope the next net gen versions have all the features ;)

Don't try to tackle with the player you're controlling (i.e the guy with the cursor) so much - like you say they often just seem to ignore your attempt to tackle and seem to walk right through you.

It's much more effective (in fact way too effective) to just hold down square and let one of your other players go to the ball, as rather stupidly the game is much more likely to decide the outcome in your favour when it's left to decide the result of a tackle between two players it's controlling. There's no skill in that, but it's so much more effective. Then you can just use the guy you're controlling to track strikers through the middle or whatever.

Not a fan of the shooting in PES6. It seems you have less and less control over what's actually happening the longer the series goes on. You can hit 10 identical shots in terms of direction of aim and power and yet 7 go 50ft over the bar, 2 trundle slowly into the keepers arms and the other one is a low drive into the far corner of the net. Far too many random factors involved these days...

PES6 is more of a simulation, FIFA is more aimed at funness.

FIFA games have always seemed to be re-hashed versions with touched up graphics and updated rosters. I gave up buying EA sports games a long time ago. Last time I enjoyed the EA Sports range was around 2001 (apart from PGA2005)!

PES all the way :)

whilst PES is definitely better, imho the makers of PES are pretty lazy and have rested on their laurels over the past couple of years. PES6 is better than 5 and 4, but not dramatically better. They should be putting more features in.

Even something like penalties - in PES 6, pens are rubbish. You can't move the goalie across the line, nor can you control the power of the shot (fifa 07 pens are much much better). In-direct free kicks also seem more realistic in fifa07 - you can really whip balls into the box etc, wheras in pes, in-direct freekicks are a bit useless.

I also find off the ball player movement somewhat lacking in PES 6, and actually think that players make better runs in Fifa 07

Don't get me wrong, i'd still take pes 6 over Fifa any day, but i really think Konami should work harder on pes 7.

The latest fifa was a step in the right direction, but it's still quite a way behind PES. especially the fact you can score from 99% of freekicks in fifa07 which is an absolute joke.

Well i ordered both but i am throwing my controller in disgust at FIFA. Its not recognising right analogue (trap + direction) on my Saitek 2600 or 2500. INstead i am stuck running the way i face on receiving the ball. EA games are such glitch filled poo! This is almost as bad as the mouse cursor bug on every single game they make that runs on laptops!

Back to PES6 now i got a kit patch :)

think it probably depends on what system you play pes6 on, id take any PES over fifas anyday, the fifas just dont feel right anymore. I prefer 4 over 5 or 6 when it comes to PES tho =/

I prefer FIFA tbh, in pro evo u can make ridiculously long runs just by running fast and slow alternately and you can run from the half way line to the opposition goal pretty much, single player in pro evo is a joke btw. Also, waaaaay too many offsides. In a GAME, NOT a real live football match, the players should stay onside when you are booting the ball from your own half considering you have no control over them whatsoever.

FIFA is far from perfect though.
