Can anyone here recommend any pet insurance other than PetPlan?

Year on year the monthly payments have gone up, in spite of the marketing spiel “we don’t put your premiums up if you make a claim” maybe I should have claimed to activate that clause who knows?

Lovely renewal letter was received today, “we see you have insured your pets with us for many years and you haven’t claimed this year so we are going to increase your premium by over £100”

I've been using Napo for my cats.

One broke his leg about a month back so been covering those costs until the claim was set up, then they've reimbursed me and pay the vet directly for all the splint changes etc (which has been almost twice a week as he keeps getting it off somehow  )

So had a positive experience with them, not sure if my renewal will go up next year because of this claim, will have to wait and see.

Edit: just to add - their customer service has been great, really easy and responsive. And the free inclusion of FirstVet video appointments has been great to negate going directly to the vet. Used it twice so far and it was effortless. And free :)

Insured both cats for @£21pm covering £4k with £75 excess

We used to be with Tesco for our mutt, the price increased a bit each year (understandable as the risk increased), but only by something like a pound a year.
However that was for a small dog and about 8 years ago.

Just had the same from Healthy Pets,

Havent made a claim with them in 8+ years and premium gone up this year by £80 for the one cat and £120 for the other.

19 year old cat no insurance here, never had it. Lucky he has never has any major problems I guess.

Then again I know they sometimes won't pay out and have a million fine print terms and will try anything on to not pay out

Petplan we’re putting our premium up year on year from the year our border terrier was born. When he was one we were told he had a risk of cancer due to an undescended testicle and we got him neutered on the advice of the vet. As he is only a pet we were OK with this and tried to claim the costs from PetPlan but it was refused as the operation was not deemed to be covered. Despite this we kept paying the insurance until it was raised to almost £600 for renewal when he was 3.

We stopped paying the insurance of over £600 per year (and rising) and the savings over the past three years have more than covered any other vet bills we have had to pay.

I know it’s a risk but over the life of a pet you could spend close to £8k or more on insurance. The insurance companies make their money by virtue is the fact that most people never need to make claims for more than trivial things.
