Am I being a dumb ass... obviously these bikes have no fuel gauge (which is annoying), but noticed when riding for the first time, the fuel light was on. so, filled up with £20 notes of super and carried on. Then thought, hold on, there's a reserve on these isn't there as well? However, can I find the dial for switching to the lower reserve? NOPE...

Anyone on here tell me, how I get my bike on reserve OR is it like an auto system on these and it simply switchs itself?

God knows, what I wanna know is, how many miles I have when light comes on and then if I have a reserve, how do i switch it. Looked everywhere on the bike, can't find anything that looks like it. Can't find anything on CBR forums either just showing a damn picture of where it is. Checked the Service Manual, not even a mention>? Must have one as it's one of the last carb variants...

I just downloaded and had a look at the service manual for your bike and can find no mention of a fuel tap. If it doesn't have one then I guess it'll be like my bike in that when the low fuel light comes on you have x amount of fuel left in the tank and it should tell you that quantity in the user manual.

Also try some dedicated forums for your bike. I use an ER6 forum and it's very helpful.

Yeah... maybe it doesn't have one... certainly can't find it... yeah will probably post on CBRforums, just thought I'd ask here in-case someone knew as you get a quicker response here :-)

Looks like I'll just be resetting mileage every fill up and work out what this does on a full tank before light etc...

when the fuel light comes on it means get to the nearest petrol station!!!,as for how much range theres left idk, around 20miles im guessing,my zx10 is the same,no reserve/fuel tap just a low fuel warning light

Seems weird my lads CBR125 has a fuel gauge.... would be nice to have one... hey ho, not only riding on the edge, living on the fuel edge as well rofl... good stuff...

I've got a fuel tap/reserve on my ZX7R but it's as stiff as ****. I just set my trip meter to zero when I fill up & know I'll need some soonish when i hit 110 miles.

Could you share that ER6 forum with us plz ElliorR....as I go to one but its a yank one...they also call their derivatives, the ER6-n and the 650r (ER6-f).

Back to topic..sry guys :)

Loads of bikes only have a fuel light, e.g. my SV650 and my Aprilia RSV only have a light. Just use the trip meter as other have suggested, once you get an idea of the fuel consumption you get used to using it as a "fuel gauge" very easily.

Our bike's don't have a fuel tap mate, it sorts itself out through some clever system.

I got around 100 miles out of the almost full tank the dealer gave me will do a bit more if you're not constantly having to stop for traffic lights like me!

well, filled up, reset trip A and when I got back, no fuel light on yet, 172 miles... and I know the fuel light works as it was empty when I filled up... that includes a fair few 3 digit runs... Mmmmmm... be interesting as this could be around the 60mpg mark?

Well, just to embaress myself, I decided to risk it, and not fill up today... bike was on 170 miles from a full tank BUT the fuel light still hadn't come on (I know it had worked last week due to it being on when I took delivery fo the bike)... so, left home to ride into work for the first time... guess what... 1 mile from M56 services ran out of fuel, no warning light nothing... just cough, splutter dead. AA brought some fuel job done.

So, at that point was 192 miles when it ran out from empty... now I know to basically when I hit 120 ish miles, just fill up :-( What an idiot... lesson 2 learnt, NEVER trust fuel lights lol

I refill at 125 miles & get just under 15 quid in, Filling up is a bit of a pain when it's every couple of hours. At the mo I go out for a wander do a hundred miles or so & it's fill up time again.

Done 700 miles since last Saturday though. :p

Nice one mate, looks like you're well into it... hence one of the reasons I thought I'd be biking in this week, weathers that nice... cannot waste it.

I should've used my head but I'd thought I'd bought a bike that ran on air... amazing I thought it's gonna cost me nothing all year around LOL. So, what you riding again, a 650 Ninja? Have aI seen a piccy of this one? if not, post I do love a piccie of a bike. Just been out to make sure Eric is ok, he's basking in the sun ;-)

It's a Kawasaki ZX7R which is a 750.

T reg - April 99 Had 2 owners FSH all old MOT's 2 previous owners, Came with 13700 miles up it & now has 14344. :p Was Serviced & MOT'ed in May, Tax till end of Sep. Delivered to me door for 2000 of my quids.

Ahhhhh, I have seen him, yeah, remember him now. That's a very sweet bike. Think I remember saying I'm not a fan of silver cars/bikes, but in this case, I'll make an exception this time, think it really suites the shape. Them wheels powder coated black?

Bet that thing shifts don't it... hard to find performance figures, or ones that I believe, I've seen on bikerz.com or whatever it was stating, 3.2s 0-60 and 158mph on my F4... I belies the top end but that 3.2s not so sure about myself....

What's yours kicking out HP wise?

122bhp @ 11800rpm apparently but all I know is a tiny movement of my wrist & the whole World goes Mental. :p
Top speed is s'posed to be 169mph.

I ride it like an arthritic grandma though. :o
