How has this man not gone to jail yet?

He has been in and out of court for the last year and a bit, most recently for 5 charges of possesing drugs including cocaine and heroine.

Now, fair enough if he got let off just that, maybe, but the fact that its the same charges everytime, why are they letting him off? Hes obviously never going to kick the habit

If this was any one else, they'd be thrown straight into prison.

Makes me so angry reading about him because its just the same story every other day

"Dohery arrested for drugs possesion", "Doherty Escapes Jail", "Doherty Arrested Again for Possesion of Drugs", "Dohery gets small fine (a days royalties for him)" and so on

Just lock him up ffs, you may even help the guy get off the stuff, he obviously isnt going to while hes being let off all the time

Sorry just had to rant

awwwww but it will upset his rehabilitation if he's sent to jail - well it hasn't helped him much while he's OUT of jail has it???

£770 fine! Wherever will he find the money to buy more drugs?

British justice stinks. Since when is possessing drugs a lesser crime than not having a TV licence (max £1000 fine)?

It's completely ridiculous how many times he's got away with a fine or sent to rehab. The man obviously has a major problem he cannot kick by himself or in rehab. Lock him up and make him do hard time. I'm sick of hearing about him.

That's the maximum though. £770 isn't the maximum punishment for possesion.

I've met the guy a couple of times - he's a genius, but an addict - they don't normally throw addicts in jail for possesion and stuff, they get trhown in jail for the amount of stuff they steal to fund their habbit. Funnily enough Doherty doesn't have to steal to fund his habbit though!

According to news reports theres only a few hundred prison spaces free at the moment. As much as I think he's a loser I'd much rather a murderer/rapist etc go to prison first.

Bring back the public stocks I say!

Clever man originally, unfortunatley self destructing right now.

not a man who deserves jail. hes only a harm to himself.

it would cost us much more to lock him up.

Agree with that, the man isn’t doing anyone harm but himself.

If there is only a few spaces left we should make sure the hardcore crims like rapists, murderers and peado’s get locked down.

well said.

The problem with this case is his celbrity status. Lots of people are up infront of the courts each day for similar offences and very few receive prison sentences. I think that because he is in the news for an imprisonable offence he shpould be imprisoned. Prison is only one of many sentencing options the courts can choose from.

I saw Doherty on Jonathon Ross's show a while ago. Although he seemed a decent bloke, i felt he's just full of excuses when it comes to his rehab. The last i heard, he was about to get some sort of implant.

What's the problem the Dude earns his own money and spends his Own money on drugs only harming himself
Why would you want to pay over 3k of tax payers money per week locking him up ?
I bet he pays more Tax per week that All of you put together.
I think you have a damn cheek slagging him off now i think about it.
