Are you having a laugh? That is moronic to expect out fuel to cost even remotely the same amount as Turkmenistan's.[TW]Fox said:And what justification is there for our fuel being what appears to be 50 times as expensive?
According to Wikipedia petrol in Turkmenistan was $0.29/gal or 7.7 cent per litre on 25 November 2006. So that's about 4p per litre or approx only 10% of the actual product cost! Why? ‘cos the Turkmenistan government is crazy.[TW]Fox said:So how much is a litre of petrol in Turkmenistan? And what justification is there for our fuel being what appears to be 50 times as expensive?

Just... blimey. That's criminally cheap - there is such thing as TOO cheap and that surely has to be it. £2.80...

Few other bits: 60% unemployment, 58% below poverty line & 11% inflation.Overall prospects in the near future are discouraging because of widespread internal poverty, a poor educational system, government misuse of oil and gas revenues, and Ashgabat's unwillingness to adopt market-oriented reforms. Turkmenistan's economic statistics are state secrets, and GDP and other figures are subject to wide margins of error. In particular, the rate of GDP growth is uncertain.
