petrol prices

One station in Exwick was charging £2 a litre today, and people paid it. Disgusting.

Morrisons was the only place in town with fuel left earlier, so everyone piled in there. Trouble is, the lane to get into Morrisons is only 5 cars long, which queues back into town. Never seen the town so busy with cars, it was absolutely mental :(

you see my post on last page bout it? Took me extra 20mins to get home from work! Such a pain living behind the station :(

Yeah, its mental. Took me almost half an hour to take my sister to Northam and get back.

My key's snapped in my ignition and got stuck, happened when I parked up outside. Only been out to take her to Northam today, if I hadn't..

Enjoy your pertrol-based cars whilst you can, Im sure things will look very different a decade from now.

errm diesels cost more to buy, run, and to buy fuel... not to mention diesel has been the first to run out in South Essex.

can still get petrol @ 1.19 but all the diesel is over 1.40 or for emergency services now ;)

I'm glad I have a fuel card...

Do you guys not understand how supply and demand works then?
It seems not...
Threads on fuel prices always seem to be sprinkled with complete failure to understand basic economics.

"Theres no price that people would stop buying at" :D

again this morning the roads are jammed around my house! people queuing for morrisions

It's about the only place round here with petrol left.

Bideford: Esso and Blights are both out, leaving Morrisons
Torrington: Totally out
Barnstaple: BP ok afaik, Sainsbury's, Tesco's both out.-

Where else is there around here?

No probs around here and petrol is between 117.9 and 119.9

I guess that is London though because during the last fuel shortages in 2000/2001 there was always fuel in this area.

im really thinking we are lucky here in south essex... sure if you have a diesel you cant get fuel anywhere, but petrol is fine. at least at all the tesco ive been too.

Morrisons in Tavistock Devon was the only place with regular unleaded and diesel still in. Crazy... 10% of ALL petrol stations don't get a supply for 4 days, and everyone goes friggin mental on a petrol buying frenzy.

Didn't joe public understand that 90% would be open just fine so was absolutely no need to buy more than normal?

The only reason there is a 'shortage' is because peeps are buying more than they usually buy. mups.

Thankyou so much Mr. Media. Once again you scare mongered and wound the situation up to help it make the headlines. I hate the media for sensationalising irrelavent crap.

I'd like to point out that around here, the nearest Shell that I actually know about is on the A38 motorway which is about 40-50 miles from here. People are mental.

I was saying the same to my gf ,as soon as the media says "don't panic buy "everyone knows a shortage will come and panic buys .

I'm glad I panicked buyed though as they are now all empty around here :D

we should rebel and over throw the government over fuel prices, if it wasnt for the duty and VAT it be quite affordable when the price of oil goes up, I say we are overtaxed in this country look at inflation its nearly 4% so basically if you work in the public sector your getting a pay cut

I do hope my decision not to be panic buy won't be something I come to regret.
Which nearly happened to me over the weekend. On my way back from the shops every single petrol station was out of fuel, but luckily I managed to get some on the way back from work yesterday - lucky as the 'distance to empty' was at 9 miles.

It's all very well taking the high point that 'I wont panic buy', but what happens when you try to fill up an empty tank as you normally would?

If no one HAD panic-bought - then you wouldn't have experienced the same problem - you would have found that almost all the petrol stations you passed did have fuel.

they are all taking delivery today!! lol

thats why it annoys me how many people are panic buying around here

Well i've been fill up normally, few local shell garages have been closed for a few days but they opened up the V-power pumps again, had to do a full tank of Tesco 99Ron but it actually gave me 1-2 better MPG vs V-Power.

Gosh the decisions...

Fill up with Sainsburys 97 tommorrow
Chance it to fill up with Shell VPower up the A38 on my way to the Midlands on Monday..
