That's mad! I have never got either of our V6 mondeos down below 25mpg on the trip with serious hooning. Mine is chipped and modded to boot. I'd suspect something seriously wrong with your car.

I can get mine that low over short (10 or 20 mile) hooning over roads I know well, but admittedly it's not something that could be sustained over distance. I can comfortably get ~ 20mpg over long distance driving though. It's also happy doing ~ 31mpg on motorway runs when I can be bothered to be gentle with it, which isn't often so I doubt there is anything wrong with it. Maybe you're not trying hard enough

Probably not.

I've been trying in my V5 golf and getting about 5% better economy. Unfortunately V-power costs about 7% more.

you were following me for thatrun and got less than 1mpg more (i knew the road, he didn't so I could push on harder )

there's nothing wrong with the car, I had 32mpg over my last tank tend to average mid twenties.

less and depending where it is and whether you have a cat and lambda probes it can totally screw up the fuelling and even destroy the cat.

I used to run V power in my old 2.0 16v Cavalier. It had a knock sensor, and the manual stated the engine would be best on 97RON fuel.

I used to get 350 miles to the fuel light on normal 95 fuel, and over 400 on 97. That's almost 15% better fuel economy, and worked out for the best financially.

As for the Focus - look in the manual, in the technical bits at the back. If it mentions 97/98RON fuel, try it and see what happens!

My E46 3litre can see 350miles to a tank of standard unleaded. See 22-28 mpg

i might razz some in my old smoker for a tank. it costs me a packet to run as is, so a few extra quid for one tank isnt going to kill me

It's a placebo effect. I tried Tesco 99 versus V-Power quite extensively, and the engine sounded positively raucous on Tesco 99 - even my mum noticed the difference!

Keep using Tesco 99 for a few more tanks, then switch to V-Power. I bet you'll notice the difference
