Peugeot 205 Mi32

unless the original car (Mi16) could redline in it's top gear then by adding 2 engines you're doubling the power, adding the weight although not doubling it, and you still have the same drag to overcome as the single engined car.

Plus you're ultimately limited by the (standard) rev limit, gearing, final drive and tyre size :)

you've gone all techno on me Pensk.(oowa oowa)

were you agreeing or disagreeing with me lol
the twin engined car should be capable of a higher top speed than the single engined version....although by how much i couldn't say.

yeah, top speed won't be too high - directly related to gearbox ratios.

we're not building it for top speed but for acceleration anyway :).

btw, just figured out i'd forgotten to upload an important pic:

the clutch plate :).

p.s. i didn't kill any 405's/BX's to get the engine(s) :).

Top speed is dictated by the gearing.

The gearing variables are (from the road back):

Tyre size
Final drive
Gear ratio

So in top gear, every rotation of the crank will turn the wheels a certain amount. 4th gear on most cars from the factory is 1:1 (one rotation of the crank = one rotation of the wheels) and 5th gear operates as an overdrive (one rotation of the crank = slightly more than one rotation of the wheels.

Ultimately, the final variable is the rev limit of the car.

If a stock Mi16-powered 205 tops out at 120mph on the limiter in 5th then a twin-engined 205 Mi32 (with the same 'box, final drive and tyre size) will also top out at 120mph on the limiter in 5th...It'll just get there quicker. :)

that's what i was trying to say, however if the standard car can't redline in top gear (ie an overdrive) then with two engines it should be able to pull more revs in top, although not necessarily hit redline depending on how tall top gear is.

rear engine rear wheels front engine front wheels, basically take the engine bay engine/gearbox driveshafts wishbones and suspension of the front of another 205,

cut the rear floor pan out the car you want to use as the twin engine car, weld the front setup out the other 205 in the boot/rear seats, lock the steering off and you have a twin engine 205 :P

Ahh right piece of **** then! :)
btw jonarob get ya ass over to 205gtidrivers.com. awesome forum with more info on pugs than you can shake a stick at and same crazy projects including twin mi16 + twin v6, etc etc etc

John Cooper made a "twini" mini sometime back in 1967, and nearly killed himself when one of the rear track rods (or toe-links on the rear I suppose) became detached.

A friend of mine had a (very rough looking) twin turbo engined Metro. Not exactly concourse but it was quick. Instead of making a mechanical system to join front and rear gearlinkages, he used microswitches on the front engines remote controlling a pair of windscreen wiper motors connected to the gear linkage on the rear engine, using them like giant RC servos effectively. Worked ok, but weren't fast enough to keep up for quick changes IIRC.
