Peugeot 3008 SUV, timing issue

Yes have to find out what the parts are, and if they are genuinely unrelated to chain repair

pinch of salt, but on the basis of £800

TOTAL RIP-OFF!!!!!
A few weeks ago my pug was playing up so I took it the Peugot Dealership in Gloucester, UK., They said I needed a new timing chain (£900) and a new HPFP (£800). I let them do the timing chain and said the HPFP would have to wait as I didn't have the money. I then took my car to a very reputable garage to do the work as it wouldn't cost so much. I just had a phone call from the garage who told me it was absolutely NOTHING to do with the hpfp. It was simply a heat sensor! £30. BIG difference eh? On top of that they told me I never needed a new timing chain as, on the reciept from Peugot, it actually says the original chain was fine.

What gets me is why Peugot said I needed parts costing a total of £1700 when I didn't?? They ripped me off £1670 and I bet I won't see a penny in refunds.

Ok, got my car back last night.
Peugeot 'goodwill' wouldn't budge past 50% but TBF the service manager at the dealership was superb. He put 10% goodwill into it by reducing the labour costs, so Peugeot then matched that 10%.
The total repairs cost arounf £5k i think, but i ended up paying £1298 which which was £40 less than the original quote before they found all the extra bits that needed replacing.
All in all, i'm happy with that.
Case closed i reckon.

Tbh now that you've paid to have it fixed it'll have warranty on those parts. If it's an otherwise reliable car, you might as well keep using it.
Yes they did mention that because I have paid for at least some of the invoice then I get warranty on the parts, which is a little bit of reassurance.
I guess I’ll try and run it for another couple of years. I say “try” because as much as I love it, there are some cracking cars on the horizon that I’d really like and I can be a bit spontaneous/impulsive at time.
