PGR3 OcUK Race Tonight?

Just tried to play this online and came last twice. I suppose it's cos I dont own any decent cars yet? Is it best to rack up a random garage full first. So far only own a lotus espirit and a rubbish porshe that cost me a bundle but is boring to drive.
So when I joined a low level game my lotus was left standing.

My trouble is the lotus esprit really suits my driving style but its slow even for an e class car. Trying to find a similar car in the higher ranks is quite hard. Nearest so far is an F50.
So what are the cars to go for?
I find progressive steering with the paddle tough at times too, trying to go smoothly round a fast sweeping corner ends up with me eating armco.

the radical is awesome handles really well same as the ultima. I like the panoz GTR-1 I find it handles well for a class A car. The 355 in class E is a great handly car also. The SLR mclarent isnt to bad but it seems a bit bit and heavy to me. For a fast sweeping corner let off acceleration and brake a tad and take it right on the inside as soon as ure on the corner accel thru it i find helps the best.
Its all about learning to ease the throttle on with the fastest cars and i heard a crafty lil trick last night which ill let u in on once ive tried it my self

That's what I was like when I first started played, the Lotus is an absolute dream to handle.
I know it's a cliché, but practice with the F50, or better yet the F50GT and you will get the hang of it. I just couldn't believe I'd ever handle the car but in the end I got to learn it pretty good in the end and managed to fly through some of the courses in it.

Deffo up for racing tonight. Will be on from 8ish.
Getting right into this now, been playing Nuclearbaggins online and we are pretty evenly matched. We both spear the armco exiting corners 
Havent even tried the headset yet though, it's still in the box. Having to play through one speaker at the minute but I have noticed people talking, it's muffled when the game sounds and background music is on.
When people play do they turn the sountracks off to hear each other speak? How does it work because i have to listen real hard to hear what each person is saying?
I will be on from 8 if anyone is around to give me driving lessons
