Hi,
Can anyone recommend super quiet fans to replace the stock phantek fans? I've been looking at the Noctua NF-A14 ULN Fan but i can't find any reviews that might tell me if it spins TOO slow. The other one was the Noctua NF-A14 FLX Fan.

The Phanteks cooler fans use a clip system, the fans have holes in them to take the clips. Any fan you buy you would have to find a way of modding them so that you can attach them to the cooler.

Thermalright TY-140/141/143/145/147 all work

Stock fans with stock retainer pins

Zip-tie pin. I use a piece of 2mm diameter wire in loop and pull it tight on fan. Than cut off excess.

Have heard that stock retainer pins work with one side of the head cut off to fit flush but have not tired it.

I thought the retainer buds would go into any 140mm fan, they just go in the standard screw holes dont they.
Nice to see the phantek fits that direction, i was thinking of rotating it to face into the roof.

the clips should fit any fan,the noctua clips are like that and I have some akasa fans fitted no problem

No & yes. All screw flanges are not the same depth or have the same back profile.
Stock Phanteks fan flange is 4.85mm & flat all around the screw hole.
Thermalright TY-140 series fans flange is 4.25mm & has a 45 degree angle transitioning from teh screw hole to middle of fan. Therefore the stock retainer pin cannot fit flat against the flange without cutting the pin's retaining lip to fit.. and it must be cut in the proper place or Phanteks wire spring will not hook in.

Edit: Here you can see the 45 degree angle and the zip-tie pin

Thumbs up for the TY147's, excellent airflow for near enough no noise.

As Doyll mentioned, you'll need to trim one edge on the pins but that's no big deal. Well worth it imo for a 24/7 rig.

I ordered 2xnoctua 140mm pwm fans, they're supposed to be good/quiet and also can produce high pressure should i decide to get a corsair water cooler. shame OC don't stock the cost reduced noctua fans.

I have the PH-TC14PE, i thought they looked like 140mm but the retaining holes seem to be placed as if they're 120mm; doesn't matter since the little clips stretched okay.
The noctua fans have the holes in the corners, the phanteks have cut away the corners.

Sorry, my bad. I should have paid more attention. I assume you were getting NF-A15 PWM. And your OP clearly says NF-A14ULN and NF-A14FLX.:(

They are 140mm fans with 120,mm fan mounts.

i went for NFA14PWM so they'd fit a possible AIO water cooler better, they're MUCH quieter than the stock phanteks when i ramp up the cpu to 100% use, just a shame they're so dear or i'd replace every fan with them.
