Hey all,

I have a couple of questions about water-cooling in this case (I have no water-cooling experience at all)

My main consideration is to not modify the case in any way. No drilling / filing / bending cutting

In the bottom of the case from everything. I've read supports a 480 radiator which is 125mm or less. I am struggling to find a radiator with this dimension. I just love Hardware Labs Black Ice rads but they are just too wide!

It gets worse at the top as I ideally want a pus/pull config at the top and bottom and there is not a lot of clearance at top so looking at something no more than around 50mm height. I'm guessing the same width restriction of 125mm still applies in the top rad position.

Any thoughts?

Additionally when thinking about fans for the radiators I'm guessing your looking for a good balance of cfm / static air pressure and noise. Any suggestions here?

If I can find rads I'm looking to do a single loop CPU + 2 x 780ti config. So I'm thinking I'd want a 480 x 2 or a 480 and a 360? I don't know if that overkill though or not!

Cheers all,

David

P.s. I've been lurking the water-cooling sub forum for weeks now getting a major urge to do a wc build!

Thanks for the links. The phantom 630 looks pretty good but I just LOVE the Enthoo. I've had a number of cases over the years and it's the first one I'm just totally mad keen about.

Obviously I can go smaller on the rads if 480 is overkill but the main issue of depth (front to back looking at the case side-on in case anyone uses a different meaning from me ;))that will fit into the top / bottom slots is a factor.

Anyone with this case care to comment on their radiator choices. Once again thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply.

Cheers,

David

@canyouseemygrapes thanks for that. Good to know that the restriction on width only applies to the bottom rad position. I'm still a bit confused on what I'll need to support

CPU : i7-4770K
GPU : 2 x 780TI

Some reading suggests 1.5mm of radiator for 1W of TDP for the components that you want to cool. So that's around 700mm of RAD but this of course depends on radiator thickness and fan speed / cfm / static pressure. So if I got 2 x 360 that's not enough. So maybe a 480 + 360

I've decided against push/pull configuration based on earlier feedback.

check project white out

4930k + 2 780's
480 in the roof, 240 in the front, 240 in the bottom

also I have had a quick look at the rads Im getting, then looked at the 480 options

Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 Full Copper 480mm
Dimensions (LxWxH): 522x124x46mm Radiator size: 4x120mm

Cheers again for your input. Appreciated.

Project white out looks pretty good and fills me with more wc happiness!

The Alphacool rad looks good shame ocuk don't stock em but I understand why not.

XSPC EX480 is the only rad for sale on ocuk that falls into the 125 or less category.
although a varied selection offered, just not enough "slims" for your needs

Dimensions: 121 x 35.5 x 515mm (WxDxH)

As far as the top and bottom position. When we tried the rad in my friends (xspc ax360) it wouldnt clear the hard drive support bar (fixed) by a fraction, which turns out to be 3mm too wide at 128.
When we put it in the top it rattled and had good clearance IIRC.
We push/pulled with the outer-most fans mounted outside the case and the rad directly to the roof.

if you want I can measure the top position for the max rad room when Im at this house on Saturday

I managed to fit in my good old PA120.3, but it was a very tight fit and it touches both side.
Not sure the exact dimensions but its about 128mm wide, so there is a small amount of margin in there.

Also have a alphacool UT420 in the top and have it in push pull with no issues

You'll find that the Alphacool 120mm variant fits in the bottom with no problems mate, a Monsta 480 in push pull fits no problems, and the same for the top, dependant on you ram / north bridge height.

push pull is not worth the $$$ fan orientation testing: http://martinsliquidlab.org/2012/01/15/radiator-shroud-testing-v2/
fan-wise, have a read here: http://martinsliquidlab.org/2013/05/07/fan-testing-round-12/
depending on your system, the enthoo primo may be overkill
considered the nzxt 630? it can hold a 360+240mm rad without modding and that's sufficient for most builds

Think you misread the conclusion here on push/pull.

About the only generalization is that push/pull is still your best bet if cost is not a problem and that will hold true for all radiators.
