We're pleased to introduce the new Mini-XL Case from Phanteks.

The Phanteks Mini-XL introduces a new form factor - Super Micro ATX. It offers optimal cooling opportunities with room for up to 14 fans and two 360mm rads. There is also the pretty unique feature of being able to transform the Mini-XL into a dual motherboard system using the optional Mini XL ITX Upgrade Kit.

To give you an idea of the modding potential on this case, here is the Mini-XL disassembled as much as possible without removing rivets :)

Phanteks Mini XL Midi Tower Case - Black @ £144.95 inc VAT

When the Phanteks design team developed the new Enthoo MINI XL, one of their main challenges was how to make effective use of space through design. The MINI XL introduces a new form factor, super micro ATX.

With its unique power supply location, the Mini XL case has been redesigned with optimal cooling in mind. Resembling the Enthoo Primo, it offers extensive water-cooling possibilities and supports the thickest radiators in the market (80mm). The case brings modularity to a new level. Almost every single panel or bracket can be removed or relocated to serve different purposes.

For the ones who desire even more, the Mini XL leaves options for additional upgrades. Perhaps the most interesting one is the possibility to transform the MINI XL into a dual motherboard system.

With the ingenious looks of the Enthoo Primo big tower, the compact Enthoo Mini XL offers a suprising amount of room (up to 14 fans and two triple radiators), and has been developed for mATX- and mITX mainboards alike, providing an unbelievable amount of features.

Really nice to see this with a release date.

Also nice to see something that sorts out the Mini ITX power button and usb side, I had originally thought of a Lian li bay, when the initial video and news months ago showed no address of Mini ITX switching and USB.

Now wondering, will there ever be an X99 Mini ITX board? Well we know that is highly unlikely due to the socket size, which is a shame as it may have made a great little workstation build. I would have liked to have my current Z87 Micro ATX rig for gaming in there with a little Mini ITX for video and such maybe up top.

Edit. SFX power supplies seem short in supply these days, so far I have only found the Silverstone ones which are modular, and have mixed opinions. Shame no other brands could address these SFX supplies and offer something that is desirable, looks good, and would not be out of place in a watercooled Mini ITX 970 gaming build, most are going to look dammed ugly at the bottom of that window, and all will need cable extensions to reach that Mini ITX board up top.

Should have a few more options on SFX PSU's soon :)

Why would you need two PC's running anyway?

I would think the main use would be to reduce the footprint of two separate PC's, plus you could build a gaming rig in one, and have a little Mini-ITX system for web browsing/streaming etc. I wouldn't run one personally, but regardless the case offers great cooling and a wealth of features even if you don't want to take advantage of running a dual system setup.

Well currently I have two TJ08B-E cases, both with Micro-ATX in them, one for general use and games, the other was a budget thing for playing with Server 2012 and Amahi. Sometimes Linux. At the moment the server has been put away, but previous it was one case stacked on top of the other.

It is also usefull when playing team based online games which require TS, online map tactic programs, and general internet use as you play, team up etc. Saves you having to tab out n such.

If you have a Micro ATX gaming rig, then a budget Mini-ITX could fulfill a secondary role, or you could have a Mini-ITX gaming rig with an X99 Micro-ATX workstation if your wanting to encode multiple video files etc during your online time.

I work, online time can be limited so it's one or the other for me unless I have multiple PC's on in multiple locations or strewn across the floor with two or three monitors spread on my desk and encroaching the mouse travel.

Still have this case at the top of my list, but find myself questioning the choice.

Now currently it will be a 4770K/Asus Gene VI, 8gb memory with two MSI Twin Frozr 7950 GPU's. I am hoping to add two new GPU's by the end of the year, as I would like to move up to 4k at some point.
One or two SSD with two or four HDD. An optic drive, and usual fans. And thinking of getting an 850w PSU.

The more I think of water cooling, the more the cost, work and future changes put me off. And I have started to ponder a single 280mm AIO water cooler with both GPU's air cooled.
But would this case not then be overkill? Considering a cheap NZXT 340 can take a 280mm AIO cooler in the front?

Besides that querry, what length of LED strip would this case need, if I get this case I plan on getting the Phantek multicolor led strip too.

Well I held off for a bit, but chose in the end, arrived today.

Thinking of something alone these lines, not all at once though, bit by bit this year, most of it from current PC. Water cooling after I get new GPU's.

Maybe an NZXT X61 or Corsair 110i GT until I get around to watercooling?

4770K.
Asus Gene VI.
Maybe move from 8gb of memory to 16gb.
2x of AMD's 390X in crossfire when released (I doubt 290X in CF will do 4K?).
1 256gb 840 Pro SSD.
1 512gb MX100 SSD.
1 to 4 HGST 7200rpm 4tb drives (all eventually going in server/nas).
1 BluRay optic read/write drive.
3 140mm case fans.
8 140mm radiator fans for push/pull.
1 or 2 D5 WC pumps or a Bay res/pump combo, thinking EK pump top with 140/170 res?
2 240mm Monsta rads? Not sure on radiator choices yet, would like 280mm maybe, or a 360 in top.
CPU and GPU waterblocks n backplates all preferably the same manufacturer.
LED strip.
Not sure what model and wattage of power supply yet?

Most likely Windows 10 for 4k support.

The case is flippin huge next to my TJ08B-E, wife aint too sure about it.

One thing I am thinking would have been better, its a bit short. I think they should have made it taller, so the bottom could take the same radiator/fan choices as the top.

As it is the bottom feels half done, with crossfire there is no real space even for fans in my opinion. I also think it may need a custom base if you do have bottom fans, as it looks restrictive in that area.

With two GPU's I am failing to see any serious radiators going in the bottom.

Well it would in my opinion be better with a 280mm or 360mm Alphacool Monsta in the floor AND roof, with the twp 140's in front to keep some fresh airflow in there while retaining some HDD storage.

But I am sure I will work something out later on. It's gonna look mighty empty for a bit.

I am tempted on this one tbh not for duel rig but the extra top room and the back duel 140mms could use a swiftech h240x for cpu and one for sli gpus.
