Phanteks NV5, 7 & 9 (+D30 fans)

Hi guys, anyone had any issues with the NV7 LED controller and the NV7 LED kit?

There seems to be a need to visually document the issue prior to an RMA issue.

I have the case from OCUK and the LED kit on order and was wondering if OCUK has a stance on the controller? I'd be happy to pay cost for it and swap it out AHEAD of having to 'prove' to avoid having to tear out elements of a 'finished' build to sort out a RMA'd controller?
Damn wish I had of seen this earlier just fitted my kit to my nv7 and they don't work. Gonna have to apply for the updated controller now.

I have just taken delivery of the LED kit and the bottom half would not light up dodgy controller, ended up using a splitter cable for now so they are on different channels and that did the trick am on to phanteks support about the issue but really don't want to be pulling apart my rig so may just leave it as it is at least it works now.

Been waiting over a month for a replacement controller. Waited 5 months for the led kit. Bit of a joke really. I found the support to be really rude as well.

Hi Guys,

Anyone with NV9 and d30s that can recommend the best setup. I have a 420mm AIO which for aesthetics im going to replace the fans to D30 including all the case fans.

Rad at the top, does it make sense what ive put on the image or does anyone with a similar setup have any suggestions?

Could even do
Bottom and rear as intake
Top and side as exhaust
Main things plenty of air moving
Orientation is likely to make a few degrees difference
Probably
Unless you do something that obviously
Just isn't going to make air flow in and out

That's the only issue with one direction fans
You can't experiment as much
Compared to fans you can flip over

That setup is for if you have a radiator on the side panel, if you've only got a AIO going in the top, you want the airflow setup which has fans as intake on the side panel.

I thought just the one intake was strange, so you would recommend 2 intakes?
For any fish tank case, unless running one position at much higher rpm than the others, I always used side and bottom as intake and top and rear as exhaust. Bottom will feed cool air for the GPU, side will feed the top AIO. Back intake is possible too, but usually is the only spot without a filter.

I found similar results on the O11D Evo, O11D XL, NZXT H9, NV7. YES, was changing cases very often but now settled with the North XL.

Bottom fans, usually are louder than anywhere else in the case, specially something like the H9 that doesn’t have any bracket allowing some space between the bottom of the case and the back of the fan.

Just as an example, using T30s, I would have the bottom fans at 25-30% while side intake and top exhaust at 40%. Rear could be 30%.

The D30s, despite not being on par with the T30s for performance, are my favourite RGB fans.

Another tip, I used half the RGB fans connected to one channel of the included RGB controller of the NV7 and the other half to the other channel. As side and back have less fans than top and bottom, the included RGB around the motherboard was connected to the channel with less fans.

Regarding the video, I found that the NV7 didn’t benefit as much from vertical GPU mounting, maybe because is a larger case and the GPU won’t be too close to the side glass panel when horizontally mounted, who knows?
