Phanteks vs h80

Cheers i see that in the review it has three fans? Is thata modded cooler
Or retail

it isnt modded at all mate, the phanteks will come supplied with 2 fans and 3 sets of fan mounting brackets so you could buy a 3rd fan and mount that also with no modding only thing is in my 600t i could fit it with 3 with a about a 5 mm gap to the rear exhaust but i choose not too for some reason couldve just mounter the exhaust externally also .

3 fans are only 1c lower then 2 fans.
In fact only 2c lower then 1 fan.
Amazingly only 9.5c cooler then no fans at all.

I'm running 3 fans... I'm so cool cus I have 3 fans.  ;)

Maybe I should get a super fast sports car to bloat my ego even more.

I didn't actually take fans out, first unplugged top, then bottom, then middle and closed case up each time. Only ran test for about 10 minutes each as have found temp peaks within first couple of minutes. My cooler is ducted out top so might be creating it's own hot-air-rising airflow and/or case intake fans/case pressure causing airflow out. Case fans were running full speed under load as they normally do.

Temp differences are same as Vortez got in their review.

I just bought the H80 assuming it is quiet and able to get me to 5ghz overclocks on x79. It won't do this but I am going to fire it up and overclock it all in about 6 hours time. I am going to find out the limit of this cooler and the true limit of the 3820 processor. I've been reading a lot about not just the main overclocking settings but the intricate minute adjustments for tuning the overclock and I hope I can pull 5ghz off.
