Unsure whether I should put this in cooling or cases, so mods please move if it's under the wrong sub-forum.

I'm using a Kraken x60 CPU Cooler with push/pull configuration.

The issue here is the airflow inside the case, i'm sure I've done it completely wrong but unsure what would be the best course of action to resolve it. Right now I have my Kraken mounted at the top as an intake with 4 fans pulling in cool air, my rear 140mm fan is an exhaust, my 240mm side fan is an intake onto the graphics card, my front 240mm fan is an intake and an optional 120mm fan blowing directly on to the GPU. My GPU is a stock cooler so it exhausts hot air out of the back. So there is a lot of intake, but not much exhaust, which i'm sure is causing the GPU to get hot hot hot.

If I change my CPU cooler around it'll be taking in hot air from the case and exhausting it out over the radiator, which would increase temps I think? What would be the best option to fix this?

Just FYI, the CPU cooler has the option to be mounted at the bottom of the case too, but I'd prefer to keep it at the top if possible, unless it'll make a dramatic difference.

I've got the Phantom 410 which, initially, gave me much worse temperatures than the Antec Nine Hundred it replaced despite being a much tidier build.

I then changed the side mounted fan to an exhaust (pulling from the GPUs) and really noticed the difference, both on the temperature monitors and my leg, there is some serious heat being drawn out when i'm gaming!

I've now got 2 x 120mm intake fans on the front of the case, 1 on the hard drive bay mount pushing air over the GPUs, and then the rest are exhausts, 1 on the side, 1 on the back and then the 140mm on the top.

My temps are pretty good now, max of high 60s on the CPU in BF3 with a 4.6ghz overclock and 65 ish on my GPUs @ 1050 / 1400.

This is my build here.

Try making the fans at the top exhaust air from the top. So as long as inside of the case is cool, then your x60 will be sucking in cool air and exhausting the warm air out the top. Works for me, see my sig ;)

Let me know how that turns out please.

I have the front 200mm, bottom 140mm, internal 140mm(blowing cold at gpu which comes from the from 200mm)
Top/back (I/O) fan as intake, Side 200mm as intake
Then finally at the top it is the kraken x60 in exhaust. All the 140mm fans im using are akasa vipers. I fount this configuration the best tbh since you are getting cool air from all over the case, any heat rising from my gpu, cpu will get sucked out the top.

I felt the huge 200mm fan blowing at the gfx card was enough. Do you actually see an improvement with the additional 2 fans blowing at the gpu? After a while it is all just extra sound as no tangible benefits can be seen such as higher overclocks.

By the way I never said, but I have 2 top 200mm fans exhausting air, below them the kraken x60 2 x 140mm exhausting air. So that is 4 fans at top exhausting air. Then 1 x 140mm exhausting air at the back of the case.

The rest are intake, which are 200mm front and side. If my GPU was longer, a 140mm fan at the bottom would blow air directly into it, but as it is, it would only miss most of it, so pointless I think. Maybe the 870/8950 will be longer gpu's in which case I will certainly be doing that.

Okay i'll try switching them about at the weekend, maybe after depending on when I can get the fans. What fans should I get, I have 4 crappy 140mm fans, could probably get a better brand tbh? My case is themed red, if it matters.

Also for the big side and front 200mm fans, are you using the cables to plug them into the case, or directly to the PSU?

I @ TNA the difference I get is a few degrees. Aslo my main raeson them being there is because I had 2 extra akasa vipers bought when ordering as I wanted to use it on my old pc before selling it so I just decided to add ut it.

@ Aedus My 200mm front and side fans are controlled via the phantoms fan controller, the rest are on my motherboard headers.

If you want I can make a simple diagram of how my airflow in my case is? which i'm sure will be the same as many others

I'm pretty sure your set-up is how I had mine originally, but I shuffled it around. Looks like it needs to be shuffled again, but I want to get 4 decent 140mm fans to go on the radiator first, and 1 decent 140mm fan to go pointing over the GPU in the optional front slot.

Every fan I have is connected to fan controller with the exception of the 2 kraken x60 fans.

Perfect, you obviously already know your stuff regarding static pressure for rads and airflow for the case etc

So yeah definitely a good buy! its a shame akasa viper only come in yellow, but because of my black 820 and green LED theme they turn green when my computers on ;)
