Hi all!

My sister is looking to get her PC up and running to play a few games, she's not expecting to play ultra or anything. She just wants to be able to play them.

I've got an old 560ti I can pair it with but I'm just wondering what you guys would suggest?

Basically, her PC died. It won't boot up at all. I think it's the motherboard but have no other AM3 boards to test it with.

Is it worth taking the gamble and just buying a new motherboard or do you think she should just buy the G3258 with a cheapish motherboard?

She's got a budget of £100. I know a new board will only cost about £40. She's not looking for a lot of functions, she just wants it to run.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, you guys are the best :D

If you already have the CPU (think its a good chance it is alive) then I would say buy a Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3

The latest Rev 5.0 / 6.0 Version is a nice black board that will run the Phenom fine. Have a google they should be around £40.

The Rev 6.0 has sightly better audio from what I can gather.

If by any chance the Phenom is toast could then just bite the bullet and stick a FX chip in, should still be around the £100 mark then.

I know a store that does a 30 day refund policy, so if it turns out to be a dead processor then I can always return the board.

Heading to OCUK on Saturday though so would rather purchase from them if possible :(

For some reason they have the board but it is nearer £50.

Still would be fine, ask them what revision it is the website doesn't say.
