Phenom II 955 vcore?

To get to a 3.8 ghz overclock i have to use 1.55 vcore is this too much? Currently using a h50 to keep it cool 51 degrees max temp does this seem right?

It sounds like you've got a fairly poor chip although the early 955's used to nearly always hit a wall around 3.7-3.8, the temperature looks good depending on what you used to measure it.

You'd probably be better off running 3.6-3.7 with much lower volts long term.

Is your chip a C2 or C3, sounds like a old C2?

Personally I say 1.55v is too much, although the temps look fine.
Try find a lower overclock that only uses 1.5v max?

yer its the older c2 version i believe was hoping to get a 4 ghz overclock out of it but hey ho 3.7 is enough ... for now haha

Thanks to the Noctua DH14, I have an old C2 stable at 3.9 GHz, with 1.525 volts idling at 31 degrees and 51 degrees at load all at a whisper.
