Phenom II who has built one and what are your thoughts?

I play a lot of Supreme Commander, which does utilise more than 2 cores and that is much better, that is probably the area I have noticed the biggest differance so far today, it's very smooth indeed and stays smooth as the game progresses, unlike the C2D which would be ok, perfectly playable, but not totally smooth, and zooming in while much was going on would cause stutter on my C2D, not so on the Phenom II.
I upgraded from a 9850 to the PhII 940 (currently at 3.65GHz) and I noticed exactly the same thing. SupCom is buttery smooth all the way even with multiple AIs and loads of units, noticeably better than before. And way, way smoother than my 3GHz C2D system. Same with other CPU dependent games like X3:TC. As far as gaming goes I'm seriously impressed with the Phenom II.

It's a very good gaming cpu that's for sure. I am more impressed than I thought I was going to be actually. I was hoping for the best but some-what expecting a bit of a let down, far from it though, I am happy indeed :D

Going from a 4600+ it was an epic upgrade for me. My maximums became my minimums & in other titles i'm getting 2-3 times the performance :D

One thing though, i have some artic silver + an Asaka Nero on it and i dont get anyway near some of the cool temps you guys are getting. We're taking 35-45c depending on what its up to. I have C&Q on there too, mind my q-fan profile is set to silent so maybe thats why? :p

I'm running at 3.3Ghz stock volts. General use i get about 45 -50c. This is high I know and I reckon its down to my NZXT Hush case (its kinda small/tight) but been running a week or so now and all good and stable.

I'm a bit of ocing noob and I don't want to push it too much with the temps being what they are. But hell its good and fast enough anyway.

I'm on a MSI K9a2 Platinum

Those temps are safe enough. :)

Be looking to improve cooling or lower volts if you start hitting the 60's at full load.

well i emailed amd before when i had my 9850 and they said all the temps on they site are core temps.

but other people think its the tcase cpu temp. so im confused.

Hmm, I would have thought it would be the CPU temp, as it isn't very high. But anyway I have run a 6000X2 and a 3800X2 well above their limits and their have been fine :p

anyone with a DFI Lan Party DK 790FXB-M2RSH or a m2rs here? i wanna know which option do u use to bump up the cpu voltage.. is it "cpu vid special add"? if yes, can u run amd overdrive and check which voltage goes up, cpu vid or cpu vddc...

I don't think CPU VID is the one to be using?
i really don't know mate... its getting so stupid and confusing.

i only have 1 option in my bios called "cpu vid special add" i tryed upping that by 0.75+ which worked but when i look in amd overdive the only thing that changed is the vddc and it says cpu voltage 1.35v which is stock..

i'll take some screenshots..
