Phew - Just done my tax return !

I was all done by the end of last July. I have no idea why people leave to the last minute!

good for you, it's called organisation. Some of us lack it- myself included. Although I got it in a couple of weeks before the deadline this year which was good for me.

I work for a firm of accountants and we have plenty of idiots bringing them in today as they had "forgotten" about the deadline.

You have no idea how many thousands have been done today. It is no wonder that people are complaining they haven't been able to do it online.

Yes
&
No

How will this help me then? I've only just registered as self employed? I'm full time paid as well.

I would imagine that yours wont be an issue as your company year would have only just started, have you set up the PAYE scheme? If not, wouldnt worry too much.
Have you got an accountant or are you doing everything yourself?

What industry and what are you actually doing, have you checked to see if you can utilise the flat rate scheme when invoicing your customers?

Don't have an accountant but been told it’s worth it as they will save me the fee anyways.

I'm a freelance cinematographer as well as working full time as IT Admin. There is only me so no PAYE and not VAT registered either

How are you planning on paying tax if it is not by PAYE for your second job? There might be another way, but i am unsure about it.

Accountants are deffo worth it if they are good ones, I use sjdaccountancy, well worth the money in my circumstances :]

Ummn, when do you have to start filling in a tax return form!?

I love the way schools teach you everything you need to pass exams but not how to keep HMRC off your back :roll

Dont you have to do a tax return of some sorts if you earn over £38,999 or thereabouts, and are employed by a company (not self employed)?

Gave mine in on monday. I owe about £215 so ill just pay em 80ish a month for the next few months and pay the interest on it.
