Phil Price Rally School

The thing that never stops amazing when you go out in a full on Rally car is how they stop and steer like a race car on slicks, but on gravel and mud! He could hammer it down hill at close to 3 figures and brake later than most people would on track and still get it stopped!

Yeah, the rally prepped Evos/Imprezas etc are sick. Always amazes me what a good driver can do with one in conditions that are far worse than on the wet road, I would not even go 1 tenth of that with my car in the wet

Were you ever on the figure of 8 when he was just coming back from taking someone on the stage? All you hear is this thundering noise from the exhaust and then you look behind and just see this blue blur fly past you...

Almost crapped myself :o

Dave, you should have come mate, we had 2 drop out and therefore we were 'cash rich' on the deposit front. Next time...

I couldnt anyways, I had a mate coming down to Cardiff for the weekend and I was on standby/working the weekend.

would have made a good short video with all the sideways action :D

I did a rally day here back when I was 21. No Scooby then though.

2 x mk1/2 escorts for training, one mk3/4 escort with 160BHP that he takes you out in and then the Sierra Cosworth that you drive round in.

He took my missus out and half way down the escort decided to die, so he popped home to fetch his own escort to take her out in. believe he said it had 500bhp+ in it. I also remember him coming down the bank, over the figure of 8, handbraking it, doing a 180 straight in to the garage by the toilets. Great day, although being taken out by him and then driving yourself = bad :D

The cars do start out clean as you can see. Car 2 was much the better car as it had an LSD and was around 8 seconds quicker around the figure 8, not least clockwise as Car 4 simply didn't want to go right!

Me.

Escorts make anyone look like a hero really, they are so easy to get and hold sideways, not least with tyres that are somewhat less grippy than a normal stage tyre. It is great fun and after a couple of laps you are going from lock to lock without to much trouble.

That really does look like mega fun and superb value for money too, shall have to rally round (pun kind of intended) and get some of my mates to go!
