I spent a fortnight in Manilla and some little island I forget the name of, it's a stunning country and some lovely people.

I think the highlight was snorkelling off said island when some random dude paddles up in a little canoe with his kids trying to sell coconuts. Don't think I've ever tasted anything quite so refreshing as that coconut milk while being parched from salt water and sun.

:D We had a boat too, which I hastily clambered back into when the local guy told us there were sharks in the area we were snorkelling in. Decided to get into shallower water where he assured us the reef kept the sharks out.

There was one night when we sat on the beach drinking and watching what looked like a quaint fishing method as all these boats went out, but then realised they were blast fishing, I.e. dropping dynamite on the reef.

I am going next year with my girlfriend and some friends. I've been a few times, as my father is Filipino and we still have a fair amount of family there. I have not been for quite a while and instead of a sit at the beach holiday, it is more of a explorer and adventure holiday.

My game plan is:

Banaue rice terrace trek
Bohol shark swimming + Chocolate hills
Palawan diving
Some Island hopping
Bicol volcano trek
Lake Sebu

Sounds like a great itinerary!
