I'm new to this forum so would like to start by saying hello :)
I'm also new to monitors and need some advice on which one to choose.
I currently have a (*cough*) 17" ProView EM-175 monitor that came with an old Dell PC.
I have recently built up a new computer and have an ATI X850 graphics card and want to take advantage of the cards graphics and get a decent quality 20" monitor.
I mainly use my computer for gaming, the internet and occasionally photo editing. I want a monitor that can show true colours (or as near as) for viewing and printing photos. But that's not too important anyway as I can adjust colour setting in Photoshop. Really I want it more for gaming as I'm quite new to gaming on the PC.

I have spent many hours researching monitors and though I don't know much about them, after reading other reviews and comments I have come up with 3 monitors. But which one should I get?

The monitors are Philips 200W6CS (£317.19), BenQ FP202W (£293.69) and ViewSonic VX2025 (£328.94).

I really can't afford anymore than the ViewSonic. I'm not sure which panel the Philips uses, has this been confirmed yet? Do any of these monitors come with a DVI cable?

Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

i'd avoid the BenQ FP202W in this instance since it's TN Film panel is not really well suited to photo editing (only being a 6 bit panel)., Viewing angles are also pretty restrictive, especially vertically. It's still unclear what panel the Philips 200W6CS is using, but from the spec i'd be inclined to think it was the same as in the Viewsonic VX2025WM. Both get good reports from users here and elsewhere. Maybe worth having a look at this article which helps compare all 3 models. At the end of the day, the Philips and Viewsonic would both be good choices, and offer pretty comparable performance

Thanks guys, that helps a lot. I thought the BenQ was 8-bit, being 16.7M colours?
IGN recently reviewed this monitor and said it's 8-bit.
The ViewSonic will go with the rest of my set up so more than likely I will go for that. It's a shame the Philips wasn't in black and silver as I'm tempted to go for that one.

it's listed at 16.7million colours, but quite often manufacturers will do this even though the screen is based on TN Film technology and only uses 6 bit +FRC.
