Phone call scam?

Just asking if anyone has heard of a scam going around that involves calls from international numbers and you get billed for answering the phone or similar?

I keep getting calls from this number 0023797375*** (I've removed the last 3 digits incase I'm breaking any rules posting a number?) I've had several over the past week. I answered it once and it was some guy talking a language I've never heard but sounded African. I've looked for the international dialing code and can't find one for 0023. Also if you remove the first 4 digits to add a zero the the phone number isn't long enough... it's only ten digits.

Very strange and has me thinking this might be some sort of scam?

You can, but (as far as I know) only if you're mobile roaming or accept the charges at the time.

Country code 00237 appears to be Cameroon.

OK, roaming I'll accept but I stand by what I said because you'd have to accept the charges and you don't do that just by picking up the phone.

Obviously not normally otherwise phones wouldn't be possible would they.

Just asking if it's possible or any known scams are going round is all, it's an unusal thing to happen.

I'm not roaming. For all I know he could have been asking me to accept the charges lol!?

I've had a similar thing before , and basically the same as you , couldn't understand a word he said so I just hung up........

Do you only answer known numbers? If I'm not sure of a number, and it's not an obvious 3rd party company, then I'll answer it.
