are those phone holders that clip into the airvents of a car any good?

I'm a bit fed up of the marks the 'sucker' ones leave but am a bit worried about the air vent style ones being..well, rubbish and not only damaging my air vents but dropping the phone as well.

the phone in question is my work device, which is a pretty hefty HTC Touch Pro 2.

Anyone any first hand experience with car kits for these?

I've used a vent holder for my TomTom for years, not had a problem. Apart from the lack of airflow obviously when its attached :D

brodit make them I've had a few, good build quality but not cheap. you buy a back bit tailored to your car then pick the front suitable for your phone. dsl development sell them in the UK. worked fine with my touch hd and my desire.

cheers guys.

just looked up the prices on them brodit ones and

If i used the phone as anything more than an occasional sat nav and dev device at work I may consider spending that much - but not sure I can justify spending that much for my useage.

I'll just get a wee cloth and wipe the windscreen more often!!
