Phone Line Questions - Can't fit an iPlate & Don't have a Test Socket ?

Seeing the better quality pics at different angles the white extension cable seems to be fine, from the other pics it looked like the terminals on the removable face plate were part of the back plate.

The plastic things should be fine, I think they are just there to stop the other wires making a connection with anything.

To sum it up everything is fine, sorry for the confusion due to the other pictures :)

Cheers..... yea the phone pics weren't that clear!

So what I should do is replace the blanked off faceplate with a Filtered one like this. And connect the extension wiring to the IDC on the back of it.

Re the iPlate..... that goes inbetween the faceplate and test socket on the NTE5 right?

That sound right?

That's all right, but there's no need for an iPlate if you have a filtered faceplate - just don't connect the ring wire (the instructions should say which wire is which).

The bit you got wrong is you shouldn't link to competitors. It's asking for a holiday.

Thanks, and sorry about the competitor.

Last question honest!

Am I right in thinking that if I replace the faceplate with the XTE-2005 Filtered Faceplate, the disconnecting of the ring wire isn't necessary as the router/modem is plugged straight into the faceplate? And that I could then disconnect the ring wire from the extension wiring on the back of the filtered faceplate (Pin 3) but there's no need as the extension is only being used for a phone.

There's no need to connect it when you're wiring the extension. It shouldn't make any difference either way, but it's stupid to wire an extra wire if there's no point...
