I had a quick play of my Dad's new Blackberry while we were driving along and i was surprised at how quick these things are but the one thing that really appealed to me was the ability to access the internet wherever we were.

So, besides the Blackberry phones, do any other phones offer the ability to access the internet on the move on a contract? When i say internet, i mean HTML. :)

Phone networks? Do Nokia do this sort of thing? Costs?

Hi

I have an O2 Xda Orbit (HTC P3300) an it supports WiFi and GPRS, The advantage with GPRS is you can surf the net anywhere you have a signal, but it does cost per MB, and O2 are expensive.

If you are really interested in surfing eith yur phone try looking at 'Web 'n' Walk' from TMobile. But be aware that if you by the phone from TMobile they disable the WiFi function on the phone, leaving only the GPRS. it id known as the MDA Compact 3 from TMobile.

see here for more info on this and all the phones from HTC

Hope this helps

If you want a small, thin, fast phone with a big screen and its a Nokia go for the N95. It is very fast indeed surfing the internet.

likewise go for Tmobile's web and walk, its really fantastic but no functions are blocked via Tmobile N95 (I am with them).

But also all the E series Nokia phones allow you to do this, the E61 being good to because of the large screen.

Lots - I have the Treo 650. Soon to be replaced with the Nokia E61i. Also check out the Orange SPV range. Anything running MS Smartphone will half decent for Internet. Also see Sony Ericsson P990i. Lots to choose from.

Hmm. Interesting. So if i went for the N95, i would have the advantage of T-Mobile's Web service thingy but keep my Wifi as well?

Just looking at the N95 on www.gsmarena.com and it certainly appears impressive. :)

Correct. The N95 has both HSDPA ("super 3G", fantastic with T-Mobile's data packages) and WiFi. You can use either for surfing the net.

It's got a decent sized screen and a very capable web browser too.

Been using the N95 for browsing the web on the train etc with Opera mobile version rather than the built in and find it very good.

The N95 is a very good phone, one of the best Nokia have done for a while. I have one as well as a M3100 (aka VarioII, Trion, TyTN, v1605). There are quite a few phones that you can browse the internet with but I would recommend either of these two.

The N95 is the newer phone with some better technology (built in GPS, 5meg camera) I personally mainly use the M3100 as I use my phone more as a laptop and I'm too used to a proper keyboard and touch screen so will probably sell the N95.

Oh and as Chrisp7 says you really want a Web N Walk package from T-mobile to fully utilise all the browsing you will be doing without worrying about the bill. :)
