Just a quicky.

Am I right in thinking that the BB Torch is pretty much the only decent phone out with a qwerty keyboard?

It's for the girlfriend, she doesn't want any Nokias and doesn't want a 'big' keyboard like the Desire Z.

Are there any other decent options? She already has a BB Curve for work and likes it well enough, so I guess the torch would be like that, but better and a little bit cooler?

Cheers.

I didn't get on so well with the torch, bolds are a much better BB to me but maybe I'm stuck in the fixed keyboard-BB world.

The BB torch is a good QWERTY keyboard phone but honestly the Bold 9700 or 9780 is much better keyboard wise even id recommend the curve over the Torch....i found the Torch keyboard a bit hit and miss as the keys are pretty indented into the phone itself....definitely recommend the 9700 or 9780 Bold handsets as they have the best keyboards out of all the BB handsets imho....plus the Torch is a pretty hefty device and is a slider so not that light and thin....if she wants the ultimate keyboard and touchscreen combo then wait for the 9900 Bold touch to be released sometime in the next couple of months.

Blackberry Bold 9780 is a better QWERTY keyboard handset in my opinion. It's definitely more of a ladies phone than the Torch. Has she had a chance to play with both in person yet? In the time since the Torch has been released, I can't remember seeing a female customer buying a Torch over a Bold.

And as you said, she already enjoys the Curve so it's a natural upgrade for her.

But if you can wait, then the Bold Touch 9900!

Thanks for the replies guys:)

I'm really unsure now.

She's played with a Torch and seemed to like it, and already has a Curve so she definitely wants something a bit different from that, but with a good physical keyboard, as her current phone has really put her off full touch-screen phones, even after having a play on my DHD.

Her current personal phone is a god awful nokia resistive touchscreen, it really is utter crap and has put he off Nokias entirely.

What I might do is see if she wants to get a pay and go sim and use that on my old curve 8900 until the Torch 2 comes out, as the specs for that do look nice, or that Bold touch, which would be ideal.

Women, they are far too complicated. And now I'm helping her, if she gets a phone she doesn't like it will never end.

Palm Pre 2 can be found really cheap atm. HP flooded the business market at a rate of £99 per handset and hundreds have found there way onto ebay. Going rate is £120-130 for brand new sealed ones.

Okay, I think she is going to get a payg sim for the moment while she decides. She has the code from T-Mobile (pac code is it?), this was originally so that she could move to an Orange contract, will it work with a pay as you go sim card aswell?

Another requirement has come up, she wants a decent camera which the HTC Cha Cha appears not to have, annoying as the phone seems ideal in every other way:/

I'm doing some hardcore googling now, but does anyone have any suggestions based on the following criteria;

- Qwerty Keyboard, preferably Blackberry sized but will consider larger

- Not Nokia

- Not a BB Curve/Bold, as she already has a Curve and the Bold isn't different enough

- Decent camera

- Battery needs to last a day fairly easily

As I say, I'm searching currently but would appreciate help!

Thanks:)
