Phone with strong antenna?

Looking for a phone with a strong antenna,something better than my old Samsung A70
Signal at home is not very good downstairs.not much better outside for that matter
Not looking at more than £200 tops,is there anything in that sort of range?
Refurb is ok too
 
There's only so much antennas/modem can do. What network are you with? Do they support WiFi calling? My home has poor coverage from all major networks, but WiFi calling has pretty much covered it for me.

Giffgaff an O2 reseller
The family all have Giffgaff so we get free calls to each other
I did a bit of research and a few of the high end phones are said to be better reception in fringe areas like me at home,out of my pocket though
My phone\network don't show WiFi calling as an option sadly:(
 
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro on Three Network, with WiFi calling option switched on in Settings (shows Vo WiFi next to signal strength icon).

Xiaomi phones are quite cheap but fairly decent. The WiFi calling will depend if your network offers it, but I would imagine they all do.

Yes but no.

The A70 is from 2019 (whereas e.g. an A55 is actually from 2024), and depending on software updates may not have ever got the capability.

am i correct in saying that `wifi calling` uses your home internet to make and receive calls?

Just bare in mind that list is not fully complete, it's most likely limited only to the ones giffgaff had time to test themselves. Probably best to search "[phone you're interested in] giffgaff wifi calling" to see if there's anyone who's using that combo before purchasing.

Apparently the A70 can do WiFi calling, at least according to Vodafone AU, but maybe not for the UK variant or not compatible with giffgaff/O2's network.

way over my budget sadly :(

i went for a sammy A15 refurb from the giffgaff `approved` list.arriving today will report back when tested.i needed a newer phone anyway
 
phone arrived today......
and is showing wifi calling :D
less ram than my old a70 but i cannot see any difference
seems to be a better signal too,even gets a `weak` 5G signal upstairs by a window lol
still setting up atm
