Photo gallery software for Windows and Mac

Hi all,

Does anyone have any ideas on what software is out there for viewing, tagging and organising photos which can be used on Windows XP and Mac OSX please? The cheaper the better really. Not sure where to post this question as the software could live on Windows, Linux or Mac!

I.e I love the way you can add tags to pictures via Windows 7, unfortunately that's no good for reading from a Mac though.

cheers for that Dirk. I did look at Picasa, but I should have qualified in the original post that I want the pictures to all be stored on a single network share yet accessed from Windows XP and OSX, and Picasa doesn't allow this.

Have a look at Adobe Lightroom. It's not free like Picasa but you can store your Lightroom Catalog on a network share and that can be accessed from anywhere.

I find Lightroom better than picasa. It also allows you to have multi word keywords and has a fantastic filtering/searching system.

I use Picasa on network shares all the time, what problems are you running into? Don't get me wrong it clearly wasn't designed to but it works.
