Hello,
Two years ago I visited Disneyland Paris and took a variety of photos, when I got home, I connected the camera to the Pc to show to a few people and for some reason, a couple of the pics had been corrupted. No idea how. I immediatley copied the files to a folder on my PC where they stayed like that until now. I am now going throguh all my photos and importing them into Lightroom so they can all be tagged and organised.

I imported them into lightroom and tagged a few, I then right clcik the folder in lightroom to clikc "Save metadata" so the actual tags would be saved to the files themselves instead of just a Lightroom library file. It failed to do this on all the photos in that folder. It seems like they are all very slightly corrupted.

I then decided I sort of needed to make a copy of all the photos so I imported them all into Irfanview and used the batch tool to rename them and output them to a new folder. It did this but when I open the folder and see all the photos in thembnail mode, several of them have grey areas over the images. When I actually open the file to view it in full screen the image is show properly.

Is there anyway I can sort this out?

Take a copy of all your pictures. Then batch convert them to another format? Then back again if need be.

I did this on a bunch of jpegs that got mangled somehow. Grey missing areas in the thumbnails and some of the pictures themselves. Converted them to bitmap and back again and all was well.

Not saying it will fix your problem but worth a shot.

Batch converting to bmp now then will convert back.

I just need a good copy of all the images. Then at least I'll have them whcih is 100 times better than not having them! - and I should be able to tag them!
