As of last weekend, I finally have my dream kit:

1DsIII
16-35mm
50mm f1.4
85mm f1.2
180mm Macro
200mm f2.0
800mm f5.6
Gitzo carbon tripod
Wimberley head
Lowepro supertrekker

The only problem is that it weighs 21Kg.

So I'm going on a diet. I've got 21Kg to loose.

Week 0: 0Kg lost.

I promise not to buy anything else 'till I get there.

I lost 2 stone since the start of summer, and when i wear my kit i put most of that back on ! lol

wait...those are some zooms !

and can i have that 85? :p

200mm f2 and 180mm macro, I'm sure you could lose some weight there :p

But if your really serious about losing weight I can happily take any of the gear of your hands, except the 800... ...It would make me feel small :(

I'm glad I didn't buy that 50" tv otherwise I'd have to lose half my bodyweight!

I think you should give other members your kit until you've lost the weight :) Not to be picky I'll just have dibs on what's left :D

There may have been some missunderstanding here. The only think I want to get rid of is excess blubber...

And MrJones, the tripod was the final piece. To replace my heavy Manfrotto.

The 180 macro is an interesting choice alongside the 200. The MPE-65 is in Mrs Gaffer's bag, along with the macro twinflash. The 180 also takes the twinflash. But it is also a pain because if the physical size - it needs to lie down - it is too long to sit lens-cap-up like the other black lenses.

If you want to lose blubber, go up to Hermaness - Unst on the Shetland Isles, cart that 800mm lens and your pack up and down across the cliffs for a week - will soon shift it, and you'll get some good shots in the process.... ;>

Damn it! I could have helped you lose that 3kg... I can do some TaeKwonDo with you... you can pay with that Tripod :p

Actully, do what V-Spec said, just hike up somewhere... then shoot.

why are people saying the 180mm macro and 200mm f2 are strange to have together? they're completely different lenses, one is an amazing macro lens but quite slow (f3.5), the other is a 200mm f2, nearly 2 stops brighter..

I'm not too regular about weighing myself but I am determined.

Now down to -6.5kg. That's over a stone.

Or more to the point, I have lost the weight of:

  • 1DsIII
  • 800mm
  • 16-35mm

Since the middle of November.
