Well after posting my retrospective for 2007, and feeling generally pretty chuffed with myself, I suddenly remembered drunkenly claiming I'd match a guy over on talkphotography forums by posting a shot I was proud of every day for the whole of 2008. By this time it was gone 10pm and very dark and I managed to leave my tripod at uni, so I figured I'd failed on day one and went to the pub instead. Whereby I immediately stumbled upon someone who had a tripod they'd lend me. This was way too much of a coincidence to pass up, so I gave my beer to the tripod lender, got in the car and headed to the nearest bit of coast!

So here it is, my first day of photography of 2008. Place bets now on how long I manage to keep going at a shot a day! :p

This was shot in almost complete darkness. No light pollution, no moon and no starlight. I literally couldnt see through the viewfinder to compose. It's a 10 minute exposure stood atop a cliff in the teeth of a howling gale. It needed 20 minutes really, but I'd probably have died!

Shouldn't you concentrate on taking one decent shot before trying to take one for each day! Although it looks like you've fluked a decent one this time. ;)

Yes, It it a nice shot but should we let him off with an Exif that clearly indicates that he took the picture at 55 minutes past midnight on the 2nd? :-)

Hah I knew some sod would spot that. I have a really weird sleep pattern anyway and am more than happy class the time until the sun comes up as the day before! If you don;t like go make your own one-a-day thread :D.

OK, well the southerly wind certainly hasn't let up on the coast. Went to Holywell Bay this evening at dusk, and got severely buffeted! Nothing was going to keep the tripod still so I just stuck it on top of a rock, ducked for cover and watched it rock back and forth in the gale.

Well you lucky, lucky people, two shots for you today! The southerly wind has died down a little, meaning there were a few waves on the north coast this afternoon, and a couple of surfers who stuck around right up until the light failed:

Day Three: Chapel Porth Pano (because sometimes even 10mm isn't wide enough!)

Mum took the whole family out for lunch today to an amazing seafood cafe in St Ives.

It was a bloody miserable day but the sea in St Ives is always the most incredible colour. Took this whilst digesting my crab and langoustine linguine :).

I really like that actually. I am staying in St Ives for a long weekend in February :)

I just thought you might not have put the clock back on your camera. :P

Been veeery busy finding excuses not to do any work today, so I'm afraid you're stuck with my ugly mug! Wrong in so many ways, but I'm oddly proud of this for it being my first self-portrait. And yes, I'm a little bit shaggy at the minute!

OK, bit of a funny one today. This is a tamtam, a sort of slit-drum carved to resemble a person that we acquired when I used to live in a country called Vanuatu (we moved back to the UK when I was 9). He leans in the corner of my room, and I normally forget he's there at all, except when I catch a glint of a gaze from his dark wooden eyes.
