Well after posting my retrospective for 2007, and feeling generally pretty chuffed with myself, I suddenly remembered drunkenly claiming I'd match a guy over on talkphotography forums by posting a shot I was proud of every day for the whole of 2008. By this time it was gone 10pm and very dark and I managed to leave my tripod at uni, so I figured I'd failed on day one and went to the pub instead. Whereby I immediately stumbled upon someone who had a tripod they'd lend me. This was way too much of a coincidence to pass up, so I gave my beer to the tripod lender, got in the car and headed to the nearest bit of coast!
So here it is, my first day of photography of 2008. Place bets now on how long I manage to keep going at a shot a day!
This was shot in almost complete darkness. No light pollution, no moon and no starlight. I literally couldnt see through the viewfinder to compose. It's a 10 minute exposure stood atop a cliff in the teeth of a howling gale. It needed 20 minutes really, but I'd probably have died!
Day 1: Wheal Coates

Good luck with the daily shot!
