Hi :)

If anyone knows, could they explain why whenever I save an image in Adobe Photoshop CS3 using "Save for Web & Devices" it drains the colour from them?

I'm trying to save the logo for a website, and whenever I try to save it the preview window instantly drains the colour from the image, they appear less brighter, and more of a grey shade than what I originally chose

Its not making the colours "web safe" is it? ...with only 249 shades to choose from

It might be.

Screenshot your options, what format is it saving as? Go for .jpg if there are a lot of colours, the most likely situation is that it is saving as .gif or a low-colour .png.

I remember myself and a later friend having this problem. I didn't fix it, my friend did, but I can't remember how. I'll ask him when he comes online.

That aside, first stop is to make sure it's just the save for web pane causing the colour alteration: save it and open it to test the colour integrity compared to the original.

ah ... just figured it out :)

what you need to do is first convert the colour profile to sRGB, in order for it to show up the same on all monitors, then you need click the > arrow at the top right of the 'Save for Web & Devices' preview window and select "Use Document Color Profile" ... the image will then change to its actual colour :D

hey, are you sure that fixed the problem? i did what you did, convert the color profile, then change the (>) option within the save to web pane, sure the colors in the save to web changed to reflect what they look like in the document, but when i saved, the images still look all wishy woshy and pale.

i even made a brand new doc, sRGB profile, and same thing, crap colors when saved :(

i also noticed it a few hours ago when i was re-sizing some photos, but didnt really pay much attention. i took them on my phone, so the colors were a bit crap from the word go. i browsed through them using ACDsee classic, delete the ones i didnt want as i browsed, then stared tweaking them in Photoshop CS3, as soon as i opened the first img it looked instantly better, without any alterations, but then after i saved it, it was back to the normal crap colors :(

this is a real problem atm, any help greatly appreciated
